Akkodis ASP Team has confirmed the identities of its two Bronze-rated drivers for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), as the French squad aims to build on a breakthrough season in the fiercely competitive LMGT3 category with Lexus RC Fs.

The team will once again field two Lexus RC F LMGT3 entries, continuing the momentum it generated during the 2025 campaign.

Akkodis builds on breakthrough season

Akkodis delivered one of the most impressive improvements on the FIA WEC grid in 2025. After finishing 16th and 18th in the standings in 2024, the team surged to third and ninth in the championship.

Along the way, the squad achieved two pole positions and celebrated its maiden victory with the #87 car in São Paulo. The team then capped its season with another triumph during the championship finale in Bahrain.

These results firmly established Akkodis as a major contender within the 18-car LMGT3 field.

Pro drivers already confirmed as Akkodis takes on 2026 WEC LMGT3 challenge in Lexus

The team had already confirmed its two Pro drivers in the official entry list released the previous week. Esteban Masson will pilot the #78 Lexus entry, marking his return to the championship after his most recent appearance at Imola in April, where he finished on the podium in third place. Meanwhile, two-time world champion José María López will continue to spearhead the #87 car.

López will once again share driving duties with Petru Umbrărescu. The Romanian driver made history last season as the first Romanian to win a race in the FIA WEC. Their reunion means at least two-thirds of the #87 crew that finished third in the LMGT3 standings last year will remain intact, giving the team valuable continuity as it pushes for further success in 2026.

At the same time, Akkodis has recruited experienced Belgian racer Tom Van Rompuy to join the #78 line-up alongside Masson. Van Rompuy arrives from TF Sport and brings extensive endurance racing expertise to the programme.

The 38-year-old Antwerp native already holds a unique place in LMGT3 history after securing the category’s first-ever pole position in 2024. His career spans both GT and prototype racing, with appearances in series such as the GT World Challenge Europe, European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series.

During the 2025 FIA WEC campaign, Van Rompuy delivered strong performances throughout the season. He secured victory at Fuji and finished second at Interlagos, ultimately claiming fifth place in the LMGT3 Drivers’ Championship.

He also gained early familiarity with the Lexus machinery after participating in the annual Rookie Test.

Countdown to the 2026 Season

Akkodis ASP Team will reveal its remaining two drivers in due course as preparations continue for the upcoming championship.

The 2026 FIA WEC season will begin with a ten-hour race in Qatar on 28 March. The calendar will then feature rounds at Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, before the championship continues at Interlagos, Circuit of the Americas and Fuji. Finally, the season will conclude with the traditional eight-hour finale in Bahrain.
