After a chaotic race weekend in Monaco, the 2026 F2 grid returned to action at the Barcelona-Catalunya GP, kicking off the weekend with Free Practice.
Before Barcelona Free Practice saw any on-track action, Roman Bilinski was placed under investigation for an unsafe release. Nikola Tsolov then opened the running with a 1:27.136, putting himself at the top of the timesheets.
Though Laurens van Hoepen put himself on top with a 1:26.776, followed by Bilinski and Alex Dunne. As multiple drivers are set for FP1 in Formula 1 later, including Colton Herta and Dino Beganovic.
With 12 minutes left on the clock, Noel León went off at Turn 3 and brought out the red flag after getting stuck in the gravel. The F2 Free Practice session in Barcelona got back underway with around 2 minutes left on the clock.
