Sunday’s Eurocup-3 Race 2 in the Imola Round provided a more familiar picture at the front as James Egozi converted his second pole position of the weekend into a commanding victory.

Egozi controlled proceedings from the outset, building a comfortable advantage that left his rivals with no opportunity to challenge for the win. Rafaël Pérard completed his best Eurocup-3 weekend by securing second place and his maiden podium, while Kacper Sztuka claimed both his first podium in the series and Tecnicar’s first-ever Eurocup-3 podium.

Egozi started from pole position alongside Pérard, with Keanu Al Azhari and Gianmarco Pradel lining up on the second row. Alceu Feldmann, Enzo Tarnvanichkul and Stefan Bostandjiev did not take part in the race.

Egozi leads from lights to the chequered flag

Egozi made a clean getaway to retain the lead, while Pradel dropped several positions off the start as rookies Eyckmans and Dall’Agnol capitalised. The opening lap featured plenty of side-by-side action before the Safety Car was deployed following an incident that forced Lorenzo Campos into retirement.

Racing resumed with Egozi immediately pulling clear at the restart, while Perard held onto second ahead of Sztuka. The Palou Motorsport teammates initially worked together to build a gap over the chasing pack, but Sztuka gradually reeled them in and began applying sustained pressure to Pérard for second place.

Further back, there were battles throughout the field as Alex Powell, Thomas Strauven, El Feghali and others exchanged positions. Sprint Race winner Patrick Heuzenroeder recovered through the midfield but was unable to challenge for the podium.

In the closing stages, Sztuka launched several attacks on Perard but was unable to find a way through, while Al Azhari closed the gap to the battle but ultimately fell short. Egozi comfortably took the chequered flag to secure his fourth victory of the season, with Perard finishing second and Sztuka completing the podium. A late puncture for Nacho Tuñón ended an impressive recovery drive on the final lap.
