IndyCar Practice 1 in Markham is complete, read here the complete results!
Championship leader Alex Palou increased the odds of securing a fifth IndyCar title by winning last time out in Portland, bringing his advantage on Kyle Kirkwood in P2 up to 110 points.
The session was delayed due to sub-standard track conditions, and eventually moved to Saturday, reshaping the schedule so as to accommodate all on-track action needs.
The session featured a 45 minutes long full grid session, as well as two additional shorter sessions with restricted groups of drivers.
Marcus Ericsson caused the first red flag at Markham by spinning out off track at Turn 4. The Andretti driver was able to keep his car off the wall and to restart promptly his session.
Another Red Flag was issued 13 minutes into the session, as Ganassi’s Kyffin Simpson made contact with the tyre barrier at the exit of Turn 6, bringing debris on the track.
To round off the session, Rosenqvist spun out, making slight contact with the barrier at Turn 8.

Group 1 results
In spite of showing speed in this segment, Scott Dixon showed significant lack of grip while on the streets of Markham.
David Malukas also ran deep in the Turn 4 runoff, while experiencing a braking issue.

Group 2 results
Pato O’Ward too ran wide off track at Turn 4, with the segment appearing to cause several troubles to the participating drivers.
Hauger as well made slight contact with the wall at the exact same spot, causing another red flag to remove the debris and stopping the clock with 1:20 minutes to go.
