Hitech’s Ritomo Miyata claimed a lights-to-flag victory in the F2 Sprint Race at the 2026 Spanish GP, full results below.
Friday marked a return to the top for Dino Beganovic, who stormed to pole position in Qualifying with an impressive final lap that put him two tenths clear of Alex Dunne in second, while Rafael Câmara rounded out the top three.
However, the Sprint Race saw Emerson Fittipaldi Jr. and Ritomo Miyata start on the front row. As the lights went out, Miyata jumped ahead of the AIX Racing driver to take the lead as the field charged down to Turn 1.
Further down the order, Sebastian Montoya sent John Bennett into a spin, while Kush Maini made contact with Nicolás Varrone, deploying the first safety car of the race. Acing the restart, Miyata got the race underway once again. Meanwhile, Dunne looked to challenge Câmara, who appeared to struggle for pace.
Noel León led a train of cars behind him, with Nikola Tsolov continuing to trail closely. On Lap 15, the Bulgarian spun out of Turn 20, having clipped the wall. The incident then deployed the second safety car of the race. With five laps remaining, Miyata aced the restart once again and led the field back to racing.
However, out in front, Miyata brought the Japanese flag back to the top step of the F2 podium for the first time in three years, claiming his maiden win at the Madring as Fittipaldi Jr. and van Hoepen rounded out the top three.
