The GB3 Championship will place a greater emphasis on continental Europe in 2027, with five of its eight main-season events taking place outside the United Kingdom and Spa-Francorchamps hosting the opening round for the first time.
The championship will retain its established 24-race, eight-event format, but the balance between British and European rounds changes significantly from 2026. Spa, Jerez, the Hungaroring, Red Bull Ring and Barcelona will comprise the five continental meetings, while Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park make up the three UK events.
The main championship will run from April 30 to October 31, beginning in Belgium before concluding at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the second consecutive season. Before that campaign starts, GB3 will also launch its separate three-round Copa del Sol in Spain during February.
Spa to host first European GB3 season opener in 2027
Spa-Francorchamps will provide the most significant change at the beginning of the main campaign, hosting Rounds 1-3 from April 30-May 2.
GB3 has regularly visited the Belgian Grand Prix venue in recent seasons, but the 2027 event will mark the first time the championship has opened its main season in continental Europe. The move immediately establishes the more international focus of the new schedule rather than beginning with one of the championship’s traditional British venues.
The change also means Silverstone will not open the championship after hosting the first round in 2026. This season, GB3 started at the British Grand Prix venue in April before travelling to Spa at the end of May. The 2027 schedule reverses that approach and delays GB3’s first domestic championship appearance until August.
Spa remains one of several Formula 1 venues on the calendar and provides drivers with an early opportunity to compete on a circuit regularly used further up the international single-seater ladder.
Jerez joins the main 2027 GB3 championship
After Spa, GB3 will travel to Circuito de Jerez from June 18-20 for Rounds 4-6, bringing the Spanish circuit into the main championship schedule.
However, drivers could already have considerable experience at Jerez by the time the main-season event arrives. The circuit will host the third and final round of the inaugural GB3 Copa del Sol on February 27-28, approximately four months before the championship returns in June.
The Copa del Sol will operate separately from the main GB3 Championship and includes three consecutive race weekends at MotorLand Aragón, Circuito del Jarama and Jerez. Each event will feature four races, creating a 12-race winter competition before the eight-round championship begins.
Jerez therefore becomes one of two Spanish circuits on the main 2027 calendar, joining Barcelona, while Spain will host five GB3-related events across the Copa del Sol and championship season.
Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring remain on calendar
The Hungaroring retains its now-established early-July position, with Rounds 7-9 taking place from July 2-4.
GB3 has increasingly used the Hungarian Grand Prix venue as part of its European programme, giving drivers experience of the technical circuit before potential progression into FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2.
The championship then travels to the Red Bull Ring from July 30-August 1. Austria joined the GB3 calendar for the first time in 2026 and will return immediately for a second season after becoming part of the championship’s expansion onto additional Formula 1 circuits.
The two events create a four-week interval between Hungary and Austria, rather than the back-to-back arrangement used in 2026. This season’s Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring rounds took place on consecutive weekends in July, helping teams combine the two events into a single extended European trip.
In 2027, the championship instead spreads its continental programme across a longer portion of the season.
Silverstone becomes first UK round in August
GB3 will not race in the United Kingdom until Rounds 13-15 at Silverstone on August 7-8, more than three months after the Spa opener.
That represents a substantial departure from the championship’s previous structure. In 2026, Silverstone hosted two events, including the season opener in April and another meeting at the beginning of August. The 2027 calendar removes the first of those visits and retains only the summer event.
As a result, GB3 reduces its main-season UK presence from four meetings in 2026 to three in 2027. Conversely, the number of continental European events rises from four to five.
Silverstone nevertheless remains a central part of the championship and will once again use the Grand Prix configuration when GB3 returns to Britain.
Brands Hatch and Donington form UK run
Brands Hatch will follow Silverstone just over a month later, with the Grand Prix circuit hosting Rounds 16-18 on September 11-12.
The championship will then travel to Donington Park for its final UK event of the year on October 16-17. The two circuits effectively exchange their positions compared with the latter stages of the 2026 season, when Donington preceded Brands Hatch.
Donington’s October meeting will also become the penultimate round rather than forming the beginning of the late-season British run. That places greater importance on the circuit before teams travel back to Spain for the championship decider only two weeks later.
Between Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington, the 2027 main season retains three of GB3’s core British venues while removing the second Silverstone event.
Barcelona retains GB3 season finale
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the final three races for the second consecutive season, with the 2027 championship concluding from October 29-31.
Barcelona joined the GB3 calendar as a race venue in 2026 after already establishing itself as a popular winter testing location for championship teams. Its first appearance immediately came as the season finale, and organisers have retained that position for 2027.
The event moves slightly earlier in the year, however. The 2026 finale takes place from November 5-8, while next season’s title decider will conclude on October 31.
Barcelona therefore completes a season in which the championship begins and ends outside Britain for the first time, reinforcing the European direction of the revised schedule.
2027 GB3 provisional calendar
The main championship will continue to feature two Qualifying sessions and three races at every event, while teams will remain limited to a maximum of three cars.

GB3 continues European expansion
The 2027 calendar continues a gradual international expansion for a championship that has increasingly positioned itself as a direct preparation ground for FIA Formula 3.
The 2026 schedule already featured four continental rounds, with the Red Bull Ring and Barcelona joining Spa and the Hungaroring. Six of its eight meetings took place at current Formula 1 venues when Silverstone’s two events were also included.
Next season takes that approach further. GB3 removes one of its two Silverstone rounds, adds Jerez and makes Spa its first overseas season opener, producing a five-three split between continental European and British events.
The separate Copa del Sol widens that international footprint further. Drivers who contest both programmes could race at eight different circuits across six countries during 2027, with the championship making five appearances in Spain alone when the three February events, Jerez main-season round and Barcelona finale are combined.
The main series itself remains unchanged in size, with 24 races across eight events. However, the geography changes substantially, as GB3 moves from an evenly divided British-European schedule in 2026 towards its most European-focused main championship yet in 2027.
