Turner Motorsport remains in contention for the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) America championship following the penultimate round at Barber Motorsports Park. Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg secured fourth in the final sprint race of the season, collecting valuable points ahead of the championship-deciding Indianapolis 8 Hour.
Despite narrowly missing the podium, the pairing maintained their championship ambitions with a competitive performance in the No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. However, a closely contested battle during the closing stages prevented Foley from securing a top-three finish.
Turner Motorsport narrowly misses podium at Barber
Turner Motorsport entered the three-hour contest from third on the grid, with Rothberg taking responsibility for the opening stint. He maintained his position through the first pit stop and two restarts, keeping the team firmly in podium contention as the race progressed.
However, the order changed after Foley took over the No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, with the American slipping to fourth. He subsequently faced an intense battle during the closing laps as he attempted to reclaim the final podium position. Despite his efforts, Foley could not quite match the pace necessary to secure third, eventually crossing the line fourth in class.
Nevertheless, the result allowed Turner Motorsport to collect important championship points and remain in the title fight heading into the final round. Foley acknowledged the disappointment of narrowly missing the podium while highlighting the team’s continued championship ambitions.
“We collected good points here at Barber for the championship. Unfortunately, just one step off the podium, but still have a shot at the championship headed into Indy. We’ll try to use our momentum from the last time we were there and have a good weekend at Indy.”
Championship battle continues at Indianapolis
Although Turner Motorsport missed out on another podium, its fourth-place finish keeps Foley and Rothberg in contention for the GTWC America title. Consequently, the championship battle will continue into the season finale, where the team will aim to capitalise on its previous Indianapolis performance.
The pairing now turns its attention to the Indianapolis 8 Hour, which will determine the outcome of the championship. Having maintained its title hopes through the penultimate round, Turner Motorsport will look to convert its experience and momentum into a strong final result.
The 2026 GTWC America season concludes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana from 8–11 October, bringing the championship campaign to an end.
