FP2 at the 2026 F1 Malaysia round is in the books, view the full results of the session here.

In FP1 earlier in the day, Max Verstappen, 2nd last Saturday, was fastest in his RB22 as the drivers faced low grip conditions at the legendary Sepang circuit. Winner in Baku last weekend and hoping to continue that momentum, George Russell ended up 2nd fastest, ahead of Isack Hadjar in the second Red Bull. The Frenchman is looking to continue his great return after a fine drive to 3rd in Azerbaijan last weekend.

Behind them, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were split by championship leader Kimi Antonelli. Gasly, Lawson, Lindblad and Hülkenberg completed the top 10.

Following a no score for McLaren in Azerbaijan, Oscar Piastri and World Champion Lando Norris ended up P11 and P12 in the opening session of the weekend. Gabriel Bortoleto and Fernando Alonso followed them as the Spaniard hauled his AMR26 to P14.

Esteban Ocon was 15th ahead of Haas teammate Ollie Bearman. Albon, Stroll, Colapinto, Sainz, Bottas and Pérez rounded out the order. Haas, Williams, the second Aston Martin and Cadillac struggled for pace around the Sepang International Circuit. Exactly 3.2s covered the 22 cars in FP1.

Grid penalties were also confirmed for three drivers ahead of Sunday’s F1 Malaysia round. Alongside his five-place penalty for what happened in Baku, Franco Colapinto faces an additional 10-place drop for using a fifth ICE. Isack Hadjar will go back five spots on the grid as he uses a seventh ICE. The biggest penalty of 30 places is going the way of Arvid Lindblad as the Brit will be at the back due to using a fifth ICE, TC and exhaust.
