FP3 at round 18 of the 2026 F1 season at the United States GP has been completed, view the full results below. This weekend at COTA is the start of the latest triple-header, this time across the Americas. Mexico will be next weekend, with Brazil following that.
In FP1 and FP2 on Friday, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was fastest in both sessions as Ferrari’s upgrades seemed to work quite well. Behind him in the first session was Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, with championship contender Kimi Antonelli taking 2nd in the second one. While Lando Norris showed strong speed at times, he could not complete a full lap as the McLaren continues to be difficult to drive.
In the midfield, Liam Lawson was the lead driver as the New Zealander was P6 in the late afternoon session, followed by Bearman (P10) and Bortoleto (P11) as the Racing Bulls was ahead of the McLarens and Hadjar. The Frenchman was extremely unhappy with the balance of his RB22 once more following a very difficult Sunday back in Malaysia.
Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was 12th as the team desperately need to try and close the gap on Racing Bulls for 5th in the Constructors’ Championship. They lost 23-points across Baku, Sepang and Marina Bay.
Arvid Lindblad, Franco Colapinto and Gabriel Bortoleto all went into Saturday knowing they would be facing grid penalties for component changes.
On Friday, Aston Martin looked a bit more competitive than they were in Singapore as they were a long way clear of Cadillac. Williams did a lot of testing as they prepare for 2027 and were at the back with the American team.
