FP1 at the 2026 F1 Mexico City GP has been completed at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, view the full results of the session here.

It was a session full of rookies as 10 full-time drivers vacated their seats for FP1.

Freddie Slater, Gabriele Minì and Nikola Tsolov made their F1 practice debuts. All three have had very strong seasons across Formula 3 and Formula 2.

The Brit finished 2nd in F3, although he was arguably the best driver in the category in 2026. Meanwhile, the Italian and Bulgarian stars have also impressed in Formula 2, sitting 4th and 2nd in the championship ahead of Qatar and Abu Dhabi in a few weeks.

Kimi Antonelli was set for glory this weekend. If the Italian finished 9th or higher, he would seal the championship on Sunday afternoon.

In the fight for P2 in the standings, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were covered by just nine points. Lando Norris is 22 further back from the Monegasque.

There is two very interesting battles in the Constructors’ Championship as well. Red Bull and McLaren headed into Mexico tied on points, with the Milton Keynes-based squad having serious momentum following the last four races.

Further down, Haas and Audi are covered by seven points as they fight it out for 7th in the standings come the end of the year.
