FP2 at the 2026 F1 São Paulo GP concluded with Kimi Antonelli topping the timesheets at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. The newly crowned World Champion recorded a 1:10.763, finishing 0.253 seconds ahead of Lando Norris, while Max Verstappen completed the top three, just 0.006 seconds behind the McLaren driver.

Following Norris’s fastest lap in FP1, the full field returned for Friday afternoon’s session. However, Audi continued investigating the technical issue that had affected Freddie Slater in FP1, preventing Nico Hülkenberg from completing any running.

Cloudy skies and the threat of rain encouraged a busy start, with Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto leading the field out. Antonelli established the early benchmark on hard tyres, while several drivers struggled with lock-ups at Turn 1.

As teams switched to soft tyres, George Russell briefly took the lead with a 1:11.036 before Norris improved to a 1:11.016. Verstappen followed with a 1:11.022, placing the leading three within 0.020 seconds.

However, Antonelli subsequently reclaimed the top spot with his 1:10.763. Russell ultimately finished fourth, ahead of Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclerc completed the top seven, while Gabriel Bortoleto, Isack Hadjar and Ollie Bearman rounded out the top ten.

With approximately 28 minutes remaining, the stewards noted a potential impeding incident involving Rafael Câmara and Leclerc for investigation after the session.

The drivers subsequently turned their attention towards longer runs, with little change to the classification before the chequered flag.
