Formula E arrived in Germany for the Berlin E-Prix. Going into the weekend, the Lola Yamaha ABT team has unveiled a striking special livery on Friday morning. Interestingly, team principal Thomas Biermann was not present at the team photo.

Lola special livery for the new Superman movie

The reveal happened at 9 am local time, with a slight delay due to missing tyres on the car. The livery is a promotion for the new Superman movie. When the car was standing in the slow lane, Lola drivers Zane Maloney and Lucas di Grassi finally arrived. Both wore their special race suit with the Superman “S” on the chest and a red cave around their neck.

Superman is one of the planet’s most legendary and much-loved characters. By teaming up with one of the most world’s most exciting motorsport events and leader in motorsport engineering and technology in Lola Cars, together we will channel superhero energy and push the Lola T001 to the peak of its powers in Berlin“, GVP Global Sales at Bros. Discovery Patrick Maitrot says.

He also highlighted the significance of the creative partnership for all parts involved.

Our suite of global brands and IP is unmatched and by harnessing our creative capabilities through a unique activation that celebrates the electrifying action of both brands, we will amplify the excitement of Formula E and Superman fans around the world ahead of the race and film release.”

This partnership with Warner Brothers is a great milestone for Lola Cars, utilising the motorsport platform to create engaging content not only for our mutual benefit but also that of our sponsors.” Keith Smout, Chief Commercial Officer, Lola Cars added.

It’s an example of how we can build partnerships that go beyond traditional models and generate added value to all parties. To kick off this collaboration with a celebration of a film centred around one of the most recognizable superheroes is a statement of the impactful activations we plan to implement together.

This is a fantastic opportunity for not only Lola Cars and the team, but Formula E as a whole, to reach new audiences and build excitement around this growing sport.” He summed up, focusing on the important role the collaboration can have in broadening both interested audiences.

How Lola is looking ahead of Berlin E-Prix

Going into Berlin, Lola holds the last place in the championship standings by a margin. With 30 points to their name, the team is further 50 points away from 10th placed Envision Racing.

Di Grassi hopes for some rain, that could actually arrive during the weekend. In fact, according to the weather forecast, on the next two days, drizzles might sparkle for qualifying and race. Some chaos would also be a factor – over the past couple of seasons, Berlin emerged as an overtaking party. Maloney seeks a breakthrough, as he hasn’t been able to score a point so far.

The Berlin E-Prix starts on Friday with first practice, before the real action takes place on both days of the weekend.
