The 2025 F1 Academy season is Ella Lloyd’s first full season in the all-female series. She has continued to produce impressive results each racing weekend thus far. The British rookie has scored points in 3 out of the 4 racing weekends, as we approach the second half of the season.
This places Lloyd P4 in the 2025 F1 Academy championship standings with a total of 67 points to her name. Lloyd currently has stood on the podium 4 times this season, one of which being her maiden win in Jeddah. It is hard to imagine that we wouldn’t be seeing her on the podium again this season.
Ella Lloyd first made her F1 Academy debut at the 2024 F1 Academy Singapore GP as the Wild Card for the weekend. The Briton had an impressive debut weekend, scoring points in both Races—a promising start to her F1 Academy campaign.
A strong start to the season
Ella Lloyd started off the 2025 F1 Academy season right, scoring points in both races during the season opener in Shanghai. The Rodin Motorsport driver finished Race 1 in P6 and Race 2 in P7 after qualifying P11 that weekend.
The following weekend in Jeddah was far more successful for Lloyd, earning her maiden win during Race 1. Lloyd qualified P7, setting a time of 2:05.081—only 0.761s off of Pole Position which was awarded to Chole Chambers.
The British driver was able to gain advantage from the reverse grid during Race 1 and started the race in P2. A steady launch at lights out saw her taking the lead from Felbermayr in the first few laps. Despite the pressure from MP Motorsport’s Maya Weug, Lloyd held onto P1 and crossed the line first for the first time in her F1 Academy career.
Learning from her mistakes
Lloyd isn’t one to make many mistakes on track, especially not points costing ones. She has only left a weekend without points once so far in the 2025 F1 Academy season. Lloyd had a strong start to the Miami GP weekend, finishing both Free Practice sessions in P4 and securing a P4 during Qualifying.
Lloyd’s luck took a turn for the worse after she misjudged a breaking point into the opening corner of Race 1. She made contact with Rafaela Ferreira and was forced to retire. The Briton was later also handed a three-place grid penalty for Race 2. Due to the postponing of Race 2, the penalty was carried over into Race 1 of the Canadian GP.
Her best weekend to date
Although she narrowly missed out on a win in Canada. The 2025 F1 Academy Canadian GP weekend is Lloyd’s most successful weekend of the completed portion of the season. The Canadian GP weekend had a more unique schedule, with three races instead of the usual two. Lloyd scored a P2 podium finish back-to-back in all three races that weekend, even though it was her first visit to the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit. She scored a total of 44 points in just one weekend. This made her the second highest point scorer of the weekend.
Approaching the second half of the season
With three rounds left on the 2025 F1 Academy calendar, Lloyd may still have a chance to take the Championship. Currently in P4, the Briton is only 42 points behind current Championship leader, Doriane Pin. The Championship is tight and anything can happen in the next three rounds. Lloyd will have to continue doing what she does best and keep the mistakes to the minimal in order to rise in the Championship.
