The 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) reaches its dramatic conclusion this weekend at Monza. The Temple of Speed will host the tenth and final round of the season, marking a major milestone with the 100th race in the series’ history taking place during Sunday’s Race 2. Every lap will count as the championship battle and multiple awards are decided in Italy.

Three-way title battle heads to the wire

After nine intense rounds across Europe, three drivers remain in contention for the 2025 crown. Freddie Slater of Prema Racing leads the standings with 263 points. However, Matteo De Palo of Trident Motorsport follows closely with 259, while Enzo Deligny of R-ace GP keeps his title hopes alive on 233.

As a result, the championship will be decided in a thrilling two-race showdown at Monza. Every point, pole position, and fastest lap will carry immense weight. Furthermore, the title winner will join an elite group of past champions: Grégoire Saucy (2021), Dino Beganovic (2022), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (2023), and Rafael Camara (2024). One of the three contenders will soon become the fifth name on that prestigious list.

Battle for honour beyond the top three

While the spotlight focuses on the title contenders, several drivers remain determined to climb the overall standings. Pedro Clerot of Van Amersfoort Racing holds fourth place with 212 points. Behind him, Akshay Bohra of R-ace GP sits on 155, narrowly ahead of Evan Giltaire of ART Grand Prix with 152.

In addition, Rashid Al Dhaheri of Prema Racing occupies seventh position with 95 points. He leads Hiyu Yamakoshi of Van Amersfoort Racing, who has 86, and Taito Kato of ART Grand Prix on 83. Completing the current top ten, Jin Nakamura of R-ace GP stands on 71 points.

Beyond the top ten, Nikita Bedrin of Saintéloc Racing lies eleventh with 64 points. Rookie leader Dion Gowda of Van Amersfoort Racing is tied on 32 points with Jack Beeton of Prema Racing. Kanato Le of ART Grand Prix follows closely with 30, while Michael Belov of CL Motorsport and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi of Trident Motorsport round out the top sixteen on 21 and 20 points respectively.

Teams’ title and special awards still undecided

The Teams’ Championship remains just as captivating as the Drivers’ battle. R-ace GP and Prema Racing have exchanged the lead throughout the season, creating a tense final confrontation. Consequently, every car and every finish will determine which team claims the 2025 title.

Meanwhile, excitement also builds around the Pirelli Rising Car Award, which celebrates drivers who complete the most impressive recovery drives. The standings remain extremely close. Edouard Borgna leads with 54 points, ahead of Taito Kato on 49. Both Kanato Le and Dion Gowda share third with 43, while Tim Gerhards follows with 41. Because of these narrow margins, the award will only be settled after the Monza weekend, with the winner receiving the symbolic Pirelli Wheel.

Monza weekend schedule

The action begins on Thursday with a Pre-Event Collective Test from 14:00 to 18:00. Then, on Friday, teams and drivers will take part in two further Collective Test sessions, scheduled for 09:20 and 12:05.

On Saturday, Qualifying 1 will take place at 08:30, followed by Race 1 at 12:50. Finally, the championship reaches its climax on Sunday, with Qualifying 2 at 08:30 and the historic Race 2 at 14:50.

A weekend of history and high stakes

Monza promises not only speed but also emotion. As the championship celebrates its 100th race, it symbolises a significant chapter in the evolution of junior single-seater racing. Moreover, with three drivers separated by just 30 points, tension will run high until the final chequered flag.

In conclusion, the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine finale at Monza stands as a fitting end to an extraordinary season. With history, glory, and legacy all on the line, the stage is set for an unforgettable showdown at the Temple of Speed.
