Atlassian Williams Racing and Gulf Oil International unveiled “Driven by Words,” a unique Gulf light blue and orange livery built for the F1 São Paulo GP from 493 fan-submitted words. Fans around the world took part in July and cast more than 140,000 votes. The most popular choices were Legacy with over 7,700 votes, Passion with more than 5,800, and Teamwork with over 4,100. The design captures the emotion and energy that define racing. Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will bring the Gulf livery to the F1 São Paulo Grand Prix as Williams aims to secure fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Fan-powered Gulf livery debuts in São Paulo, linking legacy to future

Williams Team Principal James Vowles framed the scheme as more than fresh paint and stickers. He cast it as a salute to the people who carry the team from grandstand to garage. Vowles pointed to a title-winning past and a clear route back to the sharp end of the grid. Bringing the car to the F1 São Paulo GP with supporters’ chosen language on the bodywork made that bond between Williams, the fans and Gulf visible and immediate. He underlined that the team competes with that energy on board, turning admiration into momentum across every lap.

“As an iconic Formula 1 team with a Championship-winning legacy and a plan to win again, we know Atlassian Williams Racing means so much to our millions of fans around the world. This incredible livery campaign with Gulf has really brought that to life, and it will be a privilege to race every lap in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful design on the car.”

‘Driven by Words’: A fan-crafted Gulf tribute set to shine in São Paulo

Gulf’s chief executive Mike Jones cast the project as a salute to the people who give the sport its meaning. He stressed that the look came from the community itself and from their long affection for the Gulf colours. Jones framed “Driven by Words” as the next chapter in the company’s rich motorsport story. Adding that, the team could not wait to watch the design roll out during the F1 São Paulo GP.

“Through our partnership with Williams, we continue to celebrate those who truly make racing matter – the fans. This livery is created by them and their passion for the Gulf brand. ‘Driven by Words’ marks another moment in Gulf’s exceptional racing history, and we are thrilled to see this unique livery come to life on-track in Brazil.”
