Australian prodigy Jack Taylor is set to take another significant step in his career by competing in the prestigious Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy (CTFROT) in New Zealand in 2026. The 17-year-old from Launceston, Tasmania, has enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season in the UK, where he showcased his immense talent in the GB4 Championship. With a season that included two wins, four podiums, and three fastest laps, Taylor is eager to begin the next chapter of his motorsport journey closer to home.

A strategic move to CTFROT

Having spent two years racing in Europe, Taylor has been seeking a fresh challenge. His decision to join the four-round CTFROT, starting in 2026, comes after careful consideration of his options. “After two years in the UK, racing in New Zealand will be my first time closer to home, and I’m really looking forward to it,” Taylor explained. “CTFROT has a strong reputation and it was a much better option for me than doing winter testing in Europe.”

Notably, the championship has gained significant attention, especially following the recent reduction to just four rounds, which prevents clashes with northern hemisphere testing schedules. Additionally, the inclusion of two more teams for 2026 has furthered the championship’s growth, bringing the total number of teams to six.

Taylor teams up with Giles Motorsport

For the 2026 campaign, Taylor will race for Giles Motorsport, a team well-regarded for nurturing young talent.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and to see what I can do and I also have to thank my sponsors – particularly Megapoxy and European Stone Masons – for making it possible. It’s going to be an awesome experience racing in NZ and working with Giles Motorsport.”

As Taylor gears up for the 2026 season, his focus remains on honing his skills and achieving consistent results. His move to CTFROT represents not only a tactical decision but also an exciting opportunity to demonstrate his growing potential on the international stage. With a strong reputation in the UK already, Taylor aims to continue his rise through the junior formulae.
