GriffinCore Campos Racing has confirmed the signing of Alex Powell for the 2026 Eurocup-3 season. The Miami-born driver will race one of the team’s Dallara 326-Toyota cars, strengthening the Alzira-based squad’s line-up ahead of an exciting new campaign.

As a result, Powell becomes the third driver announced by GriffinCore Campos Racing, joining Thomas Strauven and Patrick Heuzenroeder as preparations gather pace for the upcoming season.

A career shaped by speed and early success

Powell was born in Miami, Florida, and holds dual American and Jamaican nationality. With motorsport firmly embedded in his background through his father, former rally driver John Powell, he began racing competitively at just eight years old.

After delivering strong results in the United States, Powell relocated to Europe to develop his karting career in Italy. From that point onwards, he established himself as one of the standout talents of his generation. Notably, he claimed victories in major international events including the WSK Final Cup, South Garda Winter Cup, Trofeo Margutti and Champions of the Future. Furthermore, he finished runner-up in the 2022 CIK-FIA Karting European Championship before securing third place the following year.

Rapid progression through single-seaters

Powell transitioned into single-seater racing in 2023 with a debut in Formula 4. However, it was the 2024 Italian F4 Championship where he truly announced himself on the international stage.

During that season, Powell secured the Rookie Championship with an impressive ten victories while also finishing fifth overall in the standings. Consequently, his performances highlighted both race-winning ability and consistency against a highly competitive field.

In 2025, Powell continued his upward trajectory by finishing runner-up in the F4 Middle East Championship. Across the season, he claimed five wins and eight podium finishes, remaining firmly in title contention until the final round. In addition, his outings in Euro 4 yielded three podiums from just nine races, underlining his adaptability across different championships. He then joined the 2026 Formula Regional Middle East Trophy with Pinnacle Motorsport.
