Gerrard Xie completes 2026 F3 grid after signing for DAMS Lucas Oil

The 2026 F3 is now completed with DAMS Lucas Oil signing Gerrard Xie for the upcoming season. The 2026 season will mark Xie’s second campaign in the series.

A decorated racing background

After stepping up to single-seaters in 2022, Xie went on to win the Chinese F4 Championship and the Formula Renault Super Championship. The Chinese driver also made his debut at the Macau Grand Prix, where he finished in an impressive P2.

Prior to his F3 debut, Xie went on to compete in the GB3 and Euroformula championships, where he was able to add multiple race victories under his belt. The 20-year-old was able to gain valuable learnings and experiences, which he brought into F3.

A challenging maiden campaign

The 2025 F3 season was a learning curve for Xie as he not only had to adapt to the new F3 car but also to competing at a higher level. Despite the challenging season, the Chinese driver showed promising results in the final two rounds of the season.

The 20-year-old’s best performance of the season was at the 2025 F3 Hungarian GP, where Xie bagged his maiden points in the series.

The second half of the 2025 season saw a vast improvement in Xie’s performance on track. F3 had returned to more familiar European tracks, and Xie was starting to be more comfortable in his car. The weekend started off promising for the Chinese driver with a career-best P4 placement in Qualifying at the Hungaroring.

The momentum carried on into the Sprint, where he finished P10 despite his struggles.

Xie seemed to have found his rhythm as he entered the 2025 F3 season finale the following weekend in Monza. The Chinese driver may have left the weekend empty-handed; however, he was able to showcase significant improvement in race craft during the Sprint.

Xie was able to climb a total of 14 positions during the race and finished within the top 15, despite starting towards the back in P29.

His performance is evident that recovery drives are a strength of his.

The 20-year-old completed his maiden season in F3 with Hitech TGR P29 in the Standings. The Chinese driver had only scored one point during the season.

Now with one year of experience, Xie will be looking to showcase more of his speed and potential on track in the 2026 F3 season. The Chinese driver is excited to race with DAMS Lucas Oil for his sophomore campaign in the series. especially considering the team’s prestigious history. Xie will be joining the French outfit’s 2026 F3 lineup alongside Nicola Lacorte and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi.
