The Williams F1 team have conducted a shakedown at Silverstone with the FW48 ahead of the first 2026 pre-season test in Bahrain. The Sakhir International Circuit will host two tests later in February.
It was a difficult January for the Williams F1 squad. They missed the Barcelona shakedown that took place late last month. The other ten teams did run across the five days. Team boss James Vowles has gone into the reasons behind that on multiple occasions.
2025 was a very promising year for Williams. They finished a strong P5 in the Constructors’ Championship.
Carlos Sainz scored two excellent Grand Prix podiums at Baku and Qatar. The Spaniard also finished P3 in the F1 Sprint in Austin.
Speaking earlier this week, Williams team principal James Vowles outlined how they hope to finish P5 again in 2026. The step to compete with the top teams is seemingly still too big for them at present.

Sharing a reel on Instagram, the British engineer shared his feelings on a big boost for the Grove-based squad.
“A milestone moment as we saw the FW48 in action for the first time today.
“A very proud day for the whole team but the push isn’t over yet – this is just the beginning. We will give it everything.”

The Thai driver, who finished a superb P8 in the F1 Drivers’ Championship last year, also took to Instagram to share some words about their new car finally reaching a circuit in real life.
“First laps in the FW48 done.
“It wasn’t the start to the season we wanted but it feels amazing to be back driving. This doesn’t define our season.
“A big well done to everyone at Grove for the effort and determination to get us here today at Silverstone after a challenging few months.
“Next stop, Bahrain. Let’s make this year a great one!”
