The 2025 F1 Academy Round 3 weekend at the Miami GP delivered mixed fortunes, as Race 1 produced thrilling action while Race 2 was cancelled due to extreme weather. After a wet weekend in Miami, MP Motorsport and Ferrari Driver Academy’s Maya Weug remained top of the championship standings, just one point ahead of PREMA Racing and Mercedes Junior Programme’s Dorian Pin.

Pin storms to victory in Race 1

In Race 1, Doriane Pin stormed to victory from sixth on the grid, showcasing both composure and pace in tricky conditions. Pole-sitter Emma Felbermayr led early on, but drama unfolded when Chloe Lloyd misjudged her braking and collided with multiple cars.

Following a Safety Car period, Pin overtook Felbermayr, who then fell down the order due to damage and received a warning for dangerous driving. Alisha Palmowski and Chloe Chambers climbed to second and third, respectively, while Ferrari junior Maya Weug impressed with a strong charge to fourth. Lia Block initially placed fifth but dropped to tenth after a five-second penalty. Ultimately, Pin secured the win and fastest lap, ahead of Palmowski and Chambers.

Torrential rain cancels Race 2

However, Race 2 failed to begin due to torrential rain. Despite Chloe Chambers earning pole during a rain-affected qualifying session, worsening conditions kept the field behind the Safety Car. Multiple drivers, including Felbermayr and Lloyd, struggled to stay on track even at reduced speeds. Visibility remained poor and standing water made racing impossible. Race Control showed the red flag and later cancelled the race without a single green flag lap.

The Miami round concluded with frustration for several drivers, particularly Wild Card entrant Ava Dobson, who was denied further track time. The championship will resume in Montreal from 13–15 June.
