Alba Larsen made her F1 Academy debut in 2025 with MP Motorsport, gaining valuable experience and achieving consistent results with the support of Tommy Hilfiger.
Points and consistency
Alba Larsen’s F1 Academy 2025 season began well during the season opener in Shanghai, where she claimed points in both Race 1 and 2 with a P7 and P4, respectively.
In Jeddah, her success continued as she secured two P5 finishes. Starting from P4 in Race 1, Larsen maintained a strong pace before finishing fifth. Despite brake issues in Race 2, the Dane held her starting position of P5 until the race’s conclusion, demonstrating resilience.
From setbacks to recovery
Larsen endured a difficult Miami GP weekend. Larsen qualified 12th, one of the worst of her season. A pit lane start during Race 1 left Larsen fighting back to P12, before moving up to P11, through difficult wet conditions. Race 2 was postponed due to dangerous weather, with the race instead taking place during the Canadian GP weekend.
The Canadian GP saw Larsen’s 2025 F1 Academy season bounce back with three points-scoring finishes. In Race 1, she recovered quickly from her Miami struggles to finish in P5. Her momentum carried on to Race 2 and 3, where she claimed P5 and P8, respectively. Larsen claimed a total of 18 points.
Back to racing
Following the Canadian round, the F1 Academy 2025 season made its way to Zandvoort, where Larsen struggled to find pace. In the reverse grid for Race 1, starting from P14, her worst qualifying result of the season, she could only manage P17. Race 2 saw her finish P9, a significant improvement from Race 1.
Larsen experienced another disappointing weekend in Singapore. She qualified P9, before finishing Race 1 in P14. In Race 2 she had a better fortune. Alba Larsen claimed P5, following a strong race where she made up multiple positions. Her result in Race 2 highlighted significant improvement as the season progressed.
The season finale
At the season finale in Las Vegas, the Dane’s adaptability was tested as she qualified P3 on the low-grip street track. Unfortunately, Race 1 resulted in a finish outside the points due to a DNF. At Turn 17, she slid across the track and tapped the wall.
After a difficult first race, Larsen’s F1 Academy Las Vegas round saw her recover to P4, matching her best finish of the season and demonstrating the pace needed for future podium challenges.
A promising rookie campaign
Despite not reaching the podium, Larsen’s F1 Academy 2025 season saw her finish 7th in the Drivers’ Standings with 70 points. This accomplishment demonstrates her development and consistency throughout her first campaign, setting the stage for an even more competitive second season.
What stands out most about Larsen’s F1 Academy season is her ability to extract points from difficult situations. While she may have lacked the outright pace to consistently challenge the championship leaders, her race craft and consistency allowed her to be in the hunt for top 10 finishes week after week.
Following her rookie season, Larsen will look to build on her experience in 2026 and compete for her first wins in the series. Signed with the Ferrari Driver Academy for 2026, Larsen has established herself as a driver to watch in the coming seasons. With one year of knowledge under her belt and clear areas to improve, Larsen is expected to be a regular podium contender in 2026.
