Monza once again lived up to its billing as the Temple of Speed. The 2025 Monza F2 Feature Race at the Italian GP delivered relentless drama with multiple safety cars, wheel-to-wheel battles and decisive swings in the standings. Luke Browning triumphed from pole position to revive his championship hopes, while Leonardo Fornaroli extended his lead with a measured drive to fifth place. The European leg of the season closed with the standings finely balanced and the title picture narrowing.

Fornaroli holds the upper hand, Browning strikes back

Leonardo Fornaroli arrived at Monza with a clear advantage and left with it intact. He finished fifth and moved to 174 points, proving once again that he can absorb pressure and score consistently even when victory escapes him. The Invicta Racing driver continues to set the standard for reliability, converting difficult races into valuable points.

Luke Browning became the first driver since Oscar Piastri in 2021 to win the Monza Feature Race from pole. He managed restarts with composure, resisted late pressure and crossed the line with a comfortable margin. His victory brought him to 153 points, narrowing the gap to Fornaroli to 21 and positioning him as the leading challenger as the series moves beyond Europe.

Verschoor and Crawford lose momentum, Martí emerges

Richard Verschoor could only manage eighth and slipped to third in the standings on 144 points. He remains within sight of Fornaroli but has lost ground at a stage of the season when momentum matters most. Jak Crawford endured a frustrating race, scoring no points and remaining on 137. He now sits 37 adrift of the leader and faces an uphill struggle to re-enter the fight.

Alex Dunne suffered the heaviest blow among the front-runners. Contact ended his race and left him stranded on 124 points, dropping him to fifth. In contrast, Pepe Martí seized his opportunity. His third-place finish lifted him to 112 points and propelled him into sixth place, marking him as a late-season force capable of reshaping the upper midfield.

Lindblad falters as Midfield reshuffles

Arvid Lindblad endured a costly weekend. He retired after contact and received post-race penalties that converted to grid drops for future rounds. He remains on 101 points and has slipped to seventh. His campaign, once promising, now appears compromised by inconsistency.

Roman Staněk also failed to finish and stays eighth on 81 points. Sebastián Montoya edged upwards to 74 with ninth place, while Dino Beganovic impressed with sixth to reach 70. Victor Martins, caught in restart collisions, remains eleventh on 69.

Joshua Duerksen produced one of his best weekends of the season. He followed Browning home in second, nearly doubling his total and climbing to 47. His surge underlined the potential of drivers outside the established top ten to disrupt the narrative. Gabriele Minì scored four points to reach 43, while Kush Maini and Ritomo Miyata remain stuck in the mid-twenties. Rafael Villagómez and Oliver Goethe each sit on 23, with Amaury Cordeel on three and Sami Meguetounif on two. John Bennett finally claimed his first point with tenth. Max Esterson and Cian Shields are still without a score.

The road ahead

The standings now define a championship fight led by Fornaroli and Browning. Fornaroli controls the contest with consistency and an ability to avoid costly errors. Browning carries momentum from Monza and has shown that he can win under pressure. Verschoor and Crawford remain in touch mathematically but must respond immediately in the flyaway rounds to revive their chances. Martí stands out as a potential spoiler after a late surge, while Dunne’s setback threatens to leave him behind.

The title fight has crystallised. Fornaroli commands the lead, Browning has reignited his challenge, and the rest must now deliver perfect weekends to remain relevant. The final rounds promise more unpredictability, but the Italian has proved that steadiness as much as speed shapes a championship.
