The 2025 F2 Championship delivered yet another dramatic twist at the Belgian GP, with post-race penalties reshaping the Feature Race result and significantly altering the Drivers’ and Teams’ standings. Following a chaotic, rain-affected contest and subsequent stewards’ decisions, the championship battle tightened further, leaving just 12 points separating the top five drivers as the paddock heads into the final stretch of the season.
Fornaroli takes Championship lead
Leonardo Fornaroli has moved to the top of the standings after a steady recovery drive saw him classified fifth in the revised results of the 2025 F2 Feature Race at the Belgian GP. The Invicta Racing driver capitalised on the disqualifications of both Alexander Dunne and Arvid Lindblad to add ten points to his tally, moving to 125 points overall. With five rounds remaining, Fornaroli holds a slender three-point advantage over Richard Verschoor.
Verschoor endured a difficult weekend at Spa, retiring from the Sprint Race and finishing 18th in the Feature. The MP Motorsport driver failed to score across the round, opening the door for rivals to overtake. Despite this setback, he remains firmly in contention with 122 points.
Crawford and Dunne slip to third and fourth
Jak Crawford now sits third in the 2025 F2 Championship standings on 116 points. The DAMS Lucas Oil driver did not enjoy a particularly strong weekend in Belgium, but he managed to avoid the costly penalties that reshuffled the order. He remains within striking distance of the lead and will look to bounce back as the series resumes.
Alexander Dunne drops to fourth place after being penalised post-race for failing to engage the start-up procedure. Although he initially crossed the line in first place, a ten-second time penalty demoted him to ninth. The Rodin Motorsport driver now has 114 points—11 shy of Fornaroli—and will be eager to recover lost ground in the coming rounds.
Browning in the top five
Luke Browning enjoyed one of the most profitable weekends at Spa, recovering from a Sprint Race retirement to finish third in the Feature Race. Following the disqualification of Lindblad and Dunne’s demotion, the Hitech TGR driver was promoted to the podium and awarded 15 valuable points. He now holds 113 points, just two behind Dunne and within a dozen of the championship leader.
Martí and Lindblad maintain top eight positions
Pepe Martí and Arvid Lindblad remain sixth and seventh in the standings, though the gap between them has narrowed. Martí’s fourth-place classification in the Feature Race earned him 12 points, bringing his total to 85. Lindblad, who had crossed the line in second place, was later disqualified for a breach of minimum tyre pressure regulations. The Campos driver remains on 84 points, having scored nothing in Belgium despite strong on-track performances.
Montoya falls behind, Martins stays in touch
Sebastián Montoya had a weekend to forget, retiring from the Feature Race after a spin and stall. With no points added, the Hitech driver remains eighth in the standings with 72 points.
Victor Martins finished eighth at Spa and picked up four points after serving two time penalties for repeated track limits violations. The ART Grand Prix driver now has 64 points and sits ninth in the championship.
Staněk’s victory lifts him to tenth
Roman Staněk emerged as the surprise winner at Spa following the penalties applied to Dunne and Lindblad. The Invicta Racing driver inherited the win and added 25 points to his total, elevating him to tenth in the standings with 57 points. The Czech driver’s strong result revitalises his campaign and injects further complexity into the midfield battle.
Midfield gathers momentum
Dino Beganovic scored eight points with a seventh-place finish, pushing his total to 50. Gabriele Minì gained ground as well, finishing sixth and rising to 35 points. Both drivers remain on the fringes of the championship fight but could influence the outcome with consistent top-ten performances.
Kush Maini did not score at Spa but retains 26 points. Joshua Dürksen finished 11th in the Feature Race and maintains his 23-point tally.
Miyata earns breakthrough podium
Ritomo Miyata’s promotion to second in the Feature Race handed him his first F2 podium and a much-needed boost in the championship. The ART GP rookie now sits 14th in the standings with 25 points. His drive in tricky conditions at Spa suggests he may play a disruptive role in the title battle during the final rounds.
Lower order shows minor movement
Oliver Goethe and Rafael Villagómez remain 16th and 17th respectively, with Goethe holding 17 points and Villagómez on 11. Amaury Cordeel’s tenth-place classification at Spa earns him a single point, bringing his total to three.
Sami Meguetounif remains on two points after finishing 15th. John Bennett, Max Esterson, and Cian Shields are yet to score in the 2025 season.
