Gabriele Minì, a 20-year-old from Italy, made his debut in F2 at the end of 2024, stepping up for two races. PREMA Racing valued his performance and decided he would step up full time for them in 2025. Paired alongside Sebastian Montoya, and backed by the Alpine Academy, Mini sits in P12 in the standings.

PREMA Racing as a whole has a had season that has not matched their aspirations, but Minì has scored 21 points across the first six rounds. PREMA sits on 57 points, putting them in only P7 in the teams championship.

Round 1 in Melbourne

The 2025 season started off strong in Australia for Minì, when he qualified on Pole. He was later found to have impeded Jak Crawford, landing himself a three-place grid penalty. In an impacted Sprint Race, Minì could only manage a P7 finish, before the Feature Race was cancelled.

Round 2 in Bahrain

Seemingly unable to find pace in Bahrain, Minì qualified P12, and after an interrupted Sprint Race, he came home in P8. After a fairly clean Feature Race for all, Minì secured a P9 finish, bringing home points again.

Round 3 in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia saw many drivers struggling with track limits infringements, but even with these struggles, Minì qualified P8. Off the Sprint Race start, Minìhad lost a position already. The Italian fought up in P3 for a while, before ending his race in P6. Another interrupted session, the Feature Race, saw Minì finishing in only P9, still securing points.

Round 4 in Imola

The Imola Grand Prix weekend saw yet another interrupted qualifying session, with a red flag. With the interruptions he faced, Minì qualified P15 in his home Grand Prix. Minì and Marti made contact during the Sprint Race, Minì finishing in P16 due to this. The Feature Race was also an interrupted session with a yellow flag brought out, Minì only capable of a P18 finish.

Round 5 in Monaco

Taking part in the Group A Qualifying session in Monaco, he was able to secure P4 in his group, which happened to be worth P8 once Group B was considered. Starting from P3 in the Sprint Race, Minì moved up to P2 almost immediately and held this position. Throughout yellow flags and safety car restarts, Minì held this position to finish P2.

Chaos presented itself off of the race start in the Feature Race, with 7 cars that had DNFed, one of those being Mini. Although he was able to restart his car, he was stuck in a position where he was unable to restart the race.

Round 6 in Spain

A tough qualifying session in Spain saw Minì qualify P18. The misfortune continued in the Sprint Race for the Italian, a DNF result after being spun by teammate Montoya. The Feature Race saw the Italian’s luck return, securing the final points position, P10.

What does this mean for his season?

With eight races remaining in the 2025 F2 season, anything could happen for Minì in theory. The Italian has shown great pace and performance across street circuits, suggesting these may be a strength for him.

With one street circuit remaining for the season, we can expect to see strong performance from Minì there, in Baku. This circuit was one of Mini’s two F2 races last season, where he finished P3 in the Sprint Race.

If Minì can boost and continue his pace and performance, a top ten finish in the championship is possible for him.
