Christian Ho is making history this season as he is the first driver from Singapore to race at FIA F3 after winning the Eurocup-3 championship.

Ho has taken a slightly unconventional route to Formula 3. He competed in Euroup-3 after choosing the series over GB3 or FRECA.

The Singaporean has had to manage a lot of changes to year. Ho has managed to step up in performance with power and an increase in downforce.

The Pirelli tyres are also notoriously difficult to get hold of. Despite this, Ho has put in some competitive performances in the opening rounds.

Christian Ho stuttered at the season opener in Australia

The season kicked off on the streets of Albert Park in Australia. The high-speed nature of the circuit presents a unique challenge due to the bumps.

Ho qualified 23rd in the first round of the season, behind his teammate at DAMS Lucas Oil, Matias Zagazeta, who ended up in 12th place.

In the final moments of the session, Ho stopped on the circuit. This ended his hopes of breaking into the all-important top 12 in qualifying.

After the abrupt end to qualifying, Ho kept out of trouble to see the chequered flag in 15th place at the end of the Sprint Race.

This allowed the DAMS driver to gain valuable experience with the Formula 1 teams watching in Australia. Ho was presented with a significantly tougher challenge in the Feature Race.

The event was chaotic as rain fell, and it was interrupted by Safety Cars. Ho hit the barriers at Turn 7 as he tried to survive the treacherous conditions.

It was a difficult end to his first FIA F3 weekend. Despite this, Ho gathered valuable track time with the new Formula 3 car.

Christian Ho’s double points finish at Bahrain and near misses

After the first round in Australia, Ho performed admirably the next time out in Bahrain to score points. It was a superb weekend at a track that is very tough on the tyres.

Ho impressed over a single lap in qualifying as he took fourth place on the grid for the Feature Race, ahead of both his teammates.

In the Sprint race, the DAMS driver took eighth place before another superb drive followed in the Feature Race with a P10 finish.

After the highs of Bahrain, the following three rounds didn’t yield any points with some agonising near misses along the way.

Imola was a challenging weekend, with a pair of 21st-place finishes before failing to score a point at Monaco. After his first experience in the Principality, he just missed out on the top 10 in the Sprint Race in Spain after racing to P11.
