The fourth day of the 2026 F1 testing in Barcelona has finished, and George Russell has finished on top of the pack. Full (unofficial) results are below.
Mercedes looking reliable again
Haas, Alpine, Audi and Red Bull were not testing, just as Williams, who elected to skip the entire week. Of the teams testing today, Mercedes started off strong with a big number of laps in the morning session. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) had his first laps in the dry, ableit in very cold conditions.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) set the fastest lap of the morning, which ended without any red flags. McLaren and Ferrari also looked decent with some good running. The form of Cadillac remains to be seen, but as the team is new, it would be unfair to expect them to fight for the prizes straight away.
First appearance for Aston Martin
In the afternoon, both Ferrari and Mercedes swapped their drivers. Especially George Russell was feeling great, improving the best time several times, underlining Mercedes’ form. McLaren on the other hand didn’t go out on track at all in the afternoon.
Right at the start of the golden hour, Aston Martin finally hit the track in Spain. The AMR26 donned an entirely black livery, as the full livery reveal is planned for February 9th. Fortunately for the fans of the Silverstone-based team, the team re-appeared with just seven minutes to go, doing more than just an installation lap.
