Joshua Dürksen leads the 2026 F2 championship after securing victory in the Sprint Race at the Australian GP. The Invicta Racing driver produced a controlled performance at Albert Park, overtaking early leader Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak before managing the race from the front.
As a result, Dürksen takes the early championship lead with 10 points heading into Sunday’s Feature Race.
Early race moves shape the result
Inthraphuvasak initially held the lead from reverse-grid pole when the race began. However, Dürksen quickly demonstrated strong pace and overtook the Campos Racing driver at Turn 9 on the second lap.
From that moment onwards, the Invicta Racing driver remained in control. Behind him, Noel León steadily worked his way forward and eventually claimed second place with a decisive move on Inthraphuvasak during the closing stages.
Meanwhile, Alex Dunne secured the final podium position after Martinius Stenshorne received a five-second time penalty, which dropped the Norwegian to tenth.
Dürksen lead the Drivers’ standings after the Sprint Race
Following the opening race of the season, Dürksen leads the drivers’ standings with 10 points. León sits second with eight points, while Dunne occupies third place with six points.
Despite leading early in the race, Inthraphuvasak ultimately fell to fourth in the standings with five points after losing positions on the final lap.
Ritomo Miyata follows in fifth with four points, while Gabriele Minì’s strong recovery drive from the back of the grid earned him three points for sixth place.
Laurens van Hoepen and Roman Bilinski complete the points-scoring positions with two and one point respectively.
Invicta Racing tops the Teams’ standings
Dürksen’s victory also places Invicta Racing at the top of the early teams’ standings with 10 points. Campos Racing holds second with eight points, while Rodin Motorsport sits third with seven.
ART Grand Prix and Hitech round out the top five, while MP Motorsport, Trident and DAMS Lucas Oil also opened their accounts in the Sprint Race.
With the Feature Race still to come, the standings remain tightly contested. Full points will be available on Sunday, giving several drivers the opportunity to challenge Dürksen’s early advantage.
