Andretti driver Max Taylor went into the weekend as championship leader following a brilliant win at Arlington. He holds a 10-point lead for Nikita Johnson who won at St. Pete. Tymek Kucharczyk completes the top 3, 22 points away from P1.
At the 10-minute mark, a 1:13.297 from Myles Rowe saw him lead Hughes, Pierson, Aron, Taylor and Garcia.
Down at turn 14, Carson Etter took a trip through the grass but continued.
Taylor was the first driver below 73s as he logged a 1:12.951, going a tenth ahead of Rowe. Lochie Hughes then responded to that, beating his teammate by 0.001s.
Rookie Max Garcia put down a rapid lap with 24 minutes left as he smashed in a 1:12.469 to go over 0.4s quicker than the rest. Myles Rowe, in the same stable, then moved into 2nd, 0.3s away.
Taylor, Pierson, Hughes and Missig rounded out the top 6 at this point. Bryce Aron showed pace for CGR as he ran 7th.
After Lochie Hughes posted a 1:12.200, Pierson, Correa and Rowe all bested that. The young Andretti star was 0.004s faster than the former F2 driver.
It got even closer with just over five minutes left as a 1:12.034 from Myles Rowe was 0.001 ahead of Juan Manuel Correa. That would remain the benchmark time after the 45-minute session was done.
Pierson, Hughes, Fittipaldi, Taylor, de Tullio, Kucharczyk, Aron and Missig completed the top 10.
At turn 1, Tymek Kucharczyk had a moment through the grass, getting a tiny bit of air while doing so.
