Practice 1 at Phoenix has been completed as IndyCar makes its return to the oval track in 2026 after 8 years, view the full results here.
Alex Palou went into the weekend as the championship leader once again. He crushed the opposition at St. Pete, winning by over 12 seconds. It was another big statement from the four-time champion. Polesitter Scott McLaughlin and Christian Lundgaard put in good drives to complete the podium.
Scott Dixon and Will Power were looking for a good rebound in opening practice following a terrible St. Pete for two of the greats in the sport’s history.
The big moment in Practice 1 was a sizeable crash for Felix Rosenqvist. Although the angle he hit the wall at was nasty, the Swede was thankfully okay.
Once again, Team Penske were flying on the ovals, with Pato O’Ward in the mix as usual too. ECR and Andretti (with Power) were in the mix also.
Dixon (P12) and Palou (P18) had relatively quiet sessions.
