Absolute Racing has confirmed an ambitious two-car entry for the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Asia powered by AWS season, fielding the latest Porsche 911 GT3 R EVO machinery in a double Pro-Am campaign. With a blend of experienced drivers and rising stars, the team aims to challenge at the front from the opening round.
Strong driver pairings at Absolute Racing lead the charge for 2026 GTWC Asia
Leading the effort in the No. 911 entry, Ron Huang Ruohan steps up to his first full Porsche campaign after securing a Silver-Am podium finish last season. He will partner highly rated French driver Alessandro Ghiretti, the reigning Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion.
Importantly, Ghiretti already has experience with the team, having raced with B-Quik Absolute Racing at the 12H Malaysia. This familiarity is expected to provide a strong foundation as the duo begins their campaign.
Drivers’ reflections on the season ahead
Reflecting on the season ahead, Huang said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be unlocking the brand-new Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo for the new season. At the same time, it’s a real honour to be representing Absolute Racing in GT World Challenge Asia for a third consecutive year. The team has many years of experience running Porsche machinery and a huge amount of data behind it. This season also gives me the opportunity to team up with two highly competitive Porsche factory drivers. With the team’s wealth of data and the addition of factory drivers, I’m confident I’ll be able to get up to speed with the new car quickly. Hopefully we can deliver some strong results in the new season.”
Ghiretti added: “First of all, I’m really happy to be back in Asia this year for GT World Challenge Asia. It’s a very special place for me. It’s where I won my first single-seater championship, the F4 SEA, back in 2018, and then again the Carrera Cup Asia in 2024. Now, to be racing in GT World Asia in GT3 machinery is something I’m really looking forward to, especially with a team I know well, Absolute Racing. I’ve been working with them for a couple of years now, and we also raced together in Malaysia at the 12 Hours, which has helped me prepare for what’s coming. I’m really excited for this new challenge, can’t wait to get started, and of course I’m aiming for strong results while enjoying every moment out there.”
Second Absolute Racing entry brings proven experience for 2026 GTWC Asia campaign
Meanwhile, the #918 AAS by Absolute Racing entry combines Porsche driver Bastian Buus with Thailand’s Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak. The latter returns to the team after a year away, bringing valuable experience and a strong track record, including a Pro-Am title and runner-up finish in 2019.
Buus also enters the season with momentum, having recently competed with Absolute Racing at the Bathurst 12 Hour.
Looking ahead, Inthraphuvasak said: “I’m very pleased to be back in the GT World Challenge with Porsche, AAS Motorsport, and Absolute Racing,” he said. “We’ve enjoyed success together in the past, and while we know the level of competition is extremely high, our objective is to replicate those strong results. I believe that with hard work and strong teamwork, we can fight at the front and achieve some very positive results this season.”
New Porsche machinery offers technical edge as the season begins in Sepang
Crucially, Absolute Racing will campaign the latest Porsche 911 GT3 R EVO (Type 992.2), which introduces several performance-focused updates. These include revised suspension and aerodynamics, as well as improvements such as louvers over the wheel arches, a Gurney flap on the rear wing, modified rear-axle kinematics and an updated anti-lock braking system.
Together, these enhancements are designed to deliver greater stability, efficiency and overall performance on track.
The 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Asia season gets underway at Sepang on 4–5 April, marking the first of six rounds. With a competitive line-up and new machinery in place, Absolute Racing heads into the season with clear ambitions.
