Alpine and Jack Doohan have officially parted ways with immediate effect ahead of the 2026 F1 season.
In a statement released Tuesday, Alpine confirmed it had “mutually agreed” with Doohan not to continue their collaboration for the upcoming season. The team stated the decision allows the 22-year-old Australian to “pursue other career opportunities.”
Alpine thanked Doohan for “his commitment and professionalism” over the past four years and wished him well in future endeavours. Doohan has not yet revealed his next move.
He joined the Alpine Academy in 2022, acting as the team’s reserve driver throughout the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Alpine named the Australian in its 2025 driver lineup alongside Pierre Gasly, filling the seat left vacant by Esteban Ocon’s move to Haas.
However, after struggling through a debut season that featured multiple on-track incidents and no points, Doohan lost his seat just six rounds in and reverted to his reserve driver role. Alpine brought in Franco Colapinto, recently released by Williams, who had impressed the team with his nine-race debut in 2024 subbing for Logan Sargeant.
In November, the team confirmed Colapinto would be staying on for 2026, effectively closing the door on a return to full-time racing with Alpine for Doohan.
Alpine will continue with 21-year-old Estonian Paul Aron as test and reserve driver after he took part in several FP1 sessions for both Alpine and Sauber (on loan) during the 2025 season.
The Enstone-based outfit finished last in the Constructors’ standings, having scored only 22 points in what was a disappointing season for the team. Alpine will reveal its 2026 F1 challenger on 23 January at a launch event in Barcelona. The team enters the 2026 season powered by Mercedes engines under a new supply agreement that is expected to run through to 2030.
