Ollie Bearman is currently experiencing his first full F1 season as a driver for Haas. The 2025 F1 campaign has been filled with ups and downs for the 20-year-old.
Early on in the season, the Briton had a couple of successful races which secured points for the Haas team. However, from Bahrain, it has been tough for the young driver. Excluding the Belgian GP weekend, Bearman has gone without points for nine races. He is placed 19th in the Drivers’ Championship with 8 points.
With the next race weekend coming up after the summer break, the driver will aim to put his best foot forward and secure more points.
While the season has been a roller coaster for the Haas team, they seem to be moving forward in a positive direction. Ahead of the race at the Hungarian GP, the Haas driver was asked if there were things he could learn from his teammate, Esteban Ocon. Both drivers are new at Haas this year.
However, Ocon is the more experienced driver with his 170 Grand Prix entries, four podiums, and a race win.
“Yeah, a lot for sure. Esteban brings a lot to the table in terms of his experience and that’s really nice. Although this weekend he looks a lot younger without the beard!” the young Haas driver joked before he continued on with his answer.
“Especially in terms of experience in other races. Those tracks or circumstances where the conditions are difficult, that’s where I can’t really lean on any of my experience whereas Esteban can. In the meeting before the race, when we were deciding strategy and stuff, Esteban really brings a lot to the table there. Which is a really good thing to learn.”
Difficult to get results, but positive foundation
Last year, Bearman was still driving in Formula 2. However, as a reserve driver for both Ferrari and Haas, he got a taste of being a Formula 1 driver. Notably, the rookie had to step in when former Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, got ill with appendicitis. His impressive debut at the Saudi Arabian GP landed him his first F1 points as he managed to finish in seventh place around the demanding Jeddah circuit.
Despite Bearman being a reserve driver last year, he was asked if 2025 was more positive or negative compared to last year. The Haas driver expressed:
“It’s positive in the sense that I get to do more races this year, which is nice. Of course, the results have been a bit more difficult to come by, but I think we’re building really good foundations here for the future. Which is of course positive.”
While the team lies ninth in the Constructors’ standings with 35 points, there have been several improvements in terms of performance this year. Both drivers have been able to secure some points, and with the second half of the season coming up, they will be ready to fight for more.
