Alpine Team Principle, Flavio Briatore, revealed his thoughts on Lewis Hamilton’s future with Ferrari on the Radio Rai program, La politica nel pallone. While Hamilton has been experiencing troubles this year, the Scuderia team have been struggling as a whole. With the difficulties of the SF25, the dreams of a world championship in red in 2025 quickly faded.
Briatore chose to weight in on the discourse surrounding Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, revealing his predictions of the former World Champion’s future success.
“Sooner or later, he will solve the problems. He is a very good person, but F1 is very complicated today with seven cars within two tenths. This year, the only truly competitive team is McLaren.” he said about Hamilton.
The Singapore GP showed the competitiveness of F1 this year and how close the top teams are. Of course, McLaren has shown their dominance throughout the season, however in recent races, Red Bull and Mercedes have stepped up.
Briatore: “Next year, everything will change”
While other teams have made progress, Ferrari seem to be falling behind. It is highly unlikely the team will be able to bounce back this year with six races to go. However, the Alpine Team Principle believes next year will be different.
Briatore continued on to say:
“Next year, everything will change. Even us [Alpine] will be fighting for podiums. You’ll see, with the new cars, Hamilton who still is a great driver, will return to fight for race wins.”
The Italian appears optimistic about both Ferrari and even Alpine’s success for 2026. Alpine have been experiencing their fair share of struggles this season as they find themselves last in the Constructor Standings. Pierre Gasly has been fighting the car all season and managed to grab 20 points while Franco Colapinto remains without any points thus far this season.
With the new regulations coming to F1, every team will need to adapt. Even though Ferrari could not find its feet this season, perhaps next season will put them back in the fight.
