Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic set the benchmark at the Hungaroring after two productive days of GB3 testing. The Australian stopped the clocks at 1m38.238s, a time that ran over 1.3 seconds faster than last year’s pole position at the same venue. Moreover, he finished just over a tenth clear of the rest of the field.

Reflecting on his performance, Ninovic expressed satisfaction. “I’m really happy with how testing went, we’ve put a lot of effort in and going about it the right way and to come out on top is pretty good. I’m looking forward to quali.”

Building momentum in the Championship

Ninovic enters the Hungarian weekend with an eight-point margin at the top of the standings. Therefore, he recognises the importance of maintaining his form.

“I’m definitely looking forward to qualifying and the races, I think we have really good potential so as long as we do everything right and everything comes together we should be somewhere at the front.”

Adapting quickly to the circuit

This weekend marks Ninovic’s first experience at the Hungaroring. Nevertheless, he has already shown signs of confidence on the challenging layout.

“It’s my first time at the track here so I’m really looking forward to the racing and I think I’m getting used to it quite nicely. I’m enjoying the track, it’s got a few nice corners which are very rewarding when you get them right, and I’ve got to grips with it pretty quickly,” he explained.

As temperatures reached 36 degrees Celsius on Thursday, conditions proved demanding. However, Ninovic embraced the challenge, drawing on his Australian background.

“The heat isn’t too much of a worry, I’ve raced in 50 degree weather at home in Australia so this isn’t too bad! It feels fine and when you’re in the car it’s not too bad and the wind rushing against you cools you down! Being so strong so far, we should be able to do something nice this weekend.”

Eyes on the weekend ahead

With strong pace in testing, a growing confidence in his car, and rapid adaptation to the track, Ninovic approaches qualifying in buoyant mood. Furthermore, his combination of composure and momentum could prove decisive as he aims to strengthen his lead in the championship standings.
