Andretti driver Jake Dennis returned to the Formula E podium in Race 2 of the Berlin E-Prix. The 30-year-old started from 16th position and finished in an impressive second place, behind race winner Nick Cassidy. He says that the strategy going into the race was perfect.

Dennis: Game plan for Berlin E-Prix was “executed perfectly”

Going into the race, Dennis was slightly off pace in comparison to Cassidy. However, the race turned into a fight for the podium, as a perfectly timed attack mode flushed him into the chaos.

“We obviously had a game plan going into the race. It was quite clear what our intentions were, and I think we perfectly executed it to be honest”, Dennis said in the press conference after the race.

“I didn’t quite have the pace in the middle phase what Nick had, so kind of just had to consolidate what we were given. I think at the end we went Attack Mode at the right time. By this point, Nick was just too far ahead.”

Nevertheless, Dennis is “super happy to get back on the podium after some really difficult races from my side of the garage”.

He adds: “We’ve always had the pace, but just could never deliver anything. It seemed that way in qualifying as well with the red flag, but happy to execute a really good race.

Advice to new champion Rowland and London preview

Oliver Rowland has been crowned as the new Formula E world champion in Berlin after an outstanding performance during the season. As a former champion, Dennis was asked to give some advice on how his fellow countryman should celebrate.

“I mean his London weekend is very different to what me and Nick have experienced. He can have a beer every night no problem”, joked Dennis, who won the Formula E championship in Season 10.

“It’s just a massive weight off your shoulders. I think it’s always special to celebrate it in front of you in London. To get it wrapped up so early is awesome for him.”

On the upcoming London E-Prix, Dennis is excited to head back home. He didn’t win a race this season yet, so he will go for the win.

“(I’m) just super excited to head into London now and try and win a race this season. That’s really my only goal left. If we can do that, I’ll be happy.

“It’s a great event, lots of fans and looking forward to a good event itself.” He concluded, excited for a chance to let his talent shine in from of his home crowd.
