From touring-car prospect to DTM race winner and Spa hero, Luca Engstler’s leap to Grasser Racing has lit a fuse under Lamborghini’s GT program. In his first full season aboard the Huracán GT3 Evo2 he struck early in DTM, with victories at Oschersleben and Hockenheim, then, alongside Jordan Pepper and Mirko Bortolotti, delivered Lamborghini’s first-ever overall triumph at the 24 Hours of Spa in June 2025.
Speaking exclusively to Pit Debrief about his rapid adaptation and the value of learning from seasoned teammates, Engstler reflected on the tough early rounds, the group’s Spa-focused reset, and the growing chemistry he hopes to keep intact. The results spotlight a driver growing fast, a team sharpening around him, and a partnership whose consistency is turning momentum into silverware.
Touring-car graduate to DTM winner: Engstler ignites Grasser’s Lamborghini charge
Engstler joined Grasser at the start of the 2024 season, stepping into one of Lamborghini’s most experienced GT3 squads. The move marked his full transition from touring cars to the top tier of GT competition. Driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, Engstler adapted quickly. He scored his first DTM victory at Oschersleben and added another at Hockenheim, showing confidence, control, and pace from the outset. The results confirmed both his potential and Grasser’s ability to develop new talent. Beyond the wins, his consistency in qualifying and race craft in heavy traffic turned him into a regular front-runner. The partnership also strengthened Lamborghini’s presence in DTM and injected fresh momentum into Grasser’s campaign.
Engstler, Pepper, Bortolotti: a Spa-winning statement for Lamborghini and Grasser
Beyond DTM, Engstler also competed with Grasser in GT World Challenge Europe, gaining valuable endurance and sprint experience across Europe’s premier GT series. He shared the car with Pepper and Bortolotti, forming a strong line-up that combined youth, experience, and proven speed. Pepper is also his teammate in DTM, giving the pair a close working rhythm across both championships.
In June 2025, Engstler and Grasser achieved a career highlight when they delivered Lamborghini’s first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Spa. The result underlined the team’s technical strength and Engstler’s growing maturity in endurance racing. Over the course of the season, he proved himself as one of the marque’s most promising young racers. Combining pace, precision, and maturity to drive both Grasser and Lamborghini forward in international GT competition.

Learning alongside experienced teammates, Engstler accelerates GT growth at Grasser
Engstler offered a measured snapshot of where he—and Grasser Racing—stand in his second season with the outfit. He framed his role with humility and intent, stressing that he “can learn the most” from teammates who “know the car” intimately and set a fierce pace. Learning from his teammates helped him settle in immediately, ensuring that the fundamentals are in the right place, as his own adaptation accelerates.
However, he didn’t gloss over the rough edges. The opening phase was “difficult,” with the first two rounds refusing to fall their way but Engstler’s emphasis was on the response, not the setback. The group stuck together, doubled down on the basics, and funnelled its energy toward Spa as a North Star. That kind of intentional focus often separates teams that merely survive a slump from those that convert it into momentum. Engstler described an environment he genuinely enjoys, a simple but telling marker in a calendar that can grind down even seasoned pros. It’s why his hope is straightforward: keep this line-up intact, protect the chemistry that’s forming, and let continuity do its work.
“Yes, I think I’m the one that can learn the most from these two. Obviously, lots of experience knowing the car very quick, so I always, let’s say, look up to them and try and match what they do and felt comfortable right away from the first second. Normally, that’s also not something you should take for granted. I think we’ve had a difficult first two rounds, but we stick together and really try and always have this focus on Spa. It’s been great. Enjoyed it a lot. Hope to stay in the same line-up for the future and have a good end of the season now.”
