After a double-sided Mexican weekend, Envision Racing brace themselves for a whole new round at the Miami E-Prix. Full-time drivers Sebastien Buemi and Joel Eriksson will line up for the main race. On Friday, instead, Zak O’Sullivan will return for the thrid time, driving in the Rookie Free Practice Session.
Can Mexico’s strong pace lead to an actual positive result?
Sebastien Buemi had impressed throughout the past racing weekend. In fact, he had set the fastest lap in practice and had also secured pole position for the main event. Unfortunately, the Swiss went too deep at the start at Turn 1 while duelling with former pole rival Barnard. The move ultimately led him to lose several spots, having to restart from P20.
His recovery was hindered by the damage sustained on the occasion. In fact, he had to pit twice, which then didn’t allow him to end the race within the top ten.
The Envision Racing driver, however, is confident about his chances for the upcoming Formula E race at Miami E-Prix.as he believes the pace shown in the previous outing can be unlocked again.
“After an amazing qualifying in Mexico, I’m feeling very motivated heading into Miami to deliver a good result in the race for the team.”
“The pace in the car was great last time out, and we’ll be working hard to keep that momentum up. Miami is a really cool city to be racing in, and I’m looking forward to getting out on track.”
Looking to return in the point after a no-score
Joel Eriksson too had significantly struggled in Mexico City. In fact, the Swedish driver had actually ended the round in P10, with a strong recovery driver after failing to qualify for the Duels.
Despite his strong performance, Eriksson was then dropped to P14 having to serve a 10 seconds time penalty for not properly completing his Attack Mode and overtaking off track. Nevertheless, the Envision Racing driver is hopeful for another point finish in the upcoming Formula E round in Miami.
In fact, everyone will be racing for the first time at the track, more notably known for hosting the F1 race, thus allowing the rookie driver to be a bit more on par in terms of track knowledge with his competitors, he confirmed.
“Miami will level the playing field, with it being a new circuit for all drivers, which should hopefully help me. Mexico had highs and lows, but we have been working hard ahead of this race to keep learning and improving each race.”
