The second race of the 2025 F1 Academy Dutch GP weekend went underway, with Weug setting off from pole position. Lined up beside her on the grid is Palmowski. The top eight was rounded out by Lloyd in P3, Chambers in P4, Pin in P5, Block in P6, Hausmann in P7, and Gademan in P8.

Race 1 saw reverse pole sitter Nina Gademan securing her first F1 Academy win. This was made special due to being in front of her home crowd, and on her birthday. Many incidents and hard fought battles took place in Race 1, and it will be no surprise if this should happen again.

We also saw Lia Block take her maiden F1 Academy podium, taking and holding P2 through the race’s length. Tina Hausmann who started from P2 in Race 1, before crashing on lap 3 will be searching for redemption. Yesterday’s race was dry, and today’s began no differently, though rain was present on the radar.

LIGHTS OUT!

As the formation lap went underway, Chambers was unable to get off the grid, after her engineers were ushered off the grid. This forced her to retreat to the the pit lane. She was unable to start, and exited her car. Race Control noted her for a pit lane infringement.

Block was seen reversing on the grid, after pulling too far forward. This saw her receiving a 10s penalty. Lloyd was also noted for a false start, she received a 5s penalty for this.

As the green flag waved and all five lights went out, Weug got a great jump and set off into Turn 1 in the lead. Lloyd quickly jumped up to P2, applying pressuring to Weug through turns 6 and 7. Palmowski approached the rear of Lloyd and soon put her under pressure.

A yellow flag waved briefly due to Havrda and Nobels locking up and spinning in turn 1. The start of lap 3 saw Larsen pressuring Chong to let her through, Chong making it tough for her. Weug pulled away from Lloyd, creating a 1.4s gap.

At the midpoint of lap 5, Palmowski found herself right on the tail of Lloyd. With Pin 0.4s behind her, she needed to ensure her move wouldn’t disadvantage her. Wild Card driver Kosterman sat in P7 by lap 7, facing the potential to be the first 2025 Wild Card to score points.

Crone made her move on Larsen to take P11, as a Yellow Flag is waved in sector 3, after Felbermayr spun through turn 10. This dropped her down to P16.

The halfway mark

Lap 9 began, and Weug had created a 4s gap on Lloyd. Block narrowly missed incident in turn 3, after Kosterman took a high line through the corner. Larsen took back her P11 from Crone on lap 10, Crone remaining on her tail.

Gademan continued to apply heavy pressure on her teammate Gademan on lap 11, not close enough to make the move. Weug extended her lead to 5.5s at the beginning of lap 12. Palmowski astoundingly managed to remain in P3, after a major mishap sending her sideways in turn 3. She regained control and stayed on track.

The push to the chequered flag

The final three laps began, and Larsen began attacking Chong for P10. At the start of lap 16 she still hadn’t managed to get around her. Weug controlled the race with a 6.3s gap on the start of the final lap, a second Dutch driver looking to take a win at the Dutch GP.

Larsen dove done the inside of Chong done the front straight. Chong locked up in to turn 1, staying on track but allowing Larsen past.

Weug crosses the line as the second Dutch driver to win an F1 Academy race this weekend. While Lloyd crossed the line second, she was pushed down to P4 after her penalty. Palmowski and Pin finished the podium.

Kosterman finished in P7, becoming the first 2025 Wild Card to score points.
