Hitech TGR’s Deagen Fairclough continued his impressive form in the 2025 GB3 Championship with a determined third-place finish in Race 2 at Donington Park. Despite turbulent air and limited overtaking opportunities, the British driver showcased patience and precision to collect another valuable set of championship points — his seventh podium of the season.
Managing dirty air and missed chances
Starting from fourth on the grid, Fairclough quickly found himself in pursuit of Reza Seewooruthun (Argenti with Prema) and race leader Alex Ninovic (Rodin Motorsport). While both drivers pulled away in the opening laps, Fairclough maintained consistent pace and stayed within striking distance throughout the 14-lap race.
Reflecting on his drive, Fairclough admitted that aerodynamic turbulence — or “dirty air” — made overtaking a real challenge on Donington’s fast, flowing layout: “Yeah, I mean, it’s a little bit annoying, but, yeah, we had the pace. We just couldn’t get by in the dirty air. The first two sectors are quite high speed, and the last sector is where you really want to get the overtake done. But, yeah, the dirty air was a bit of a struggle.”
Although Fairclough had a few chances to lunge for second, he chose the wiser approach — banking points rather than risking a collision.
“Had a few opportunities to go for an overtake, but it was a little bit too risky. We just wanted to bag the points, and, yeah, we’re pretty pleased.”
Another podium, more progress
Finishing third behind Ninovic and Seewooruthun, Fairclough added another podium to his growing tally and further cemented his position in the top half of the championship standings. For the young Briton, the result represented both a reward for consistent speed and another step in his development as a complete racing driver.
“Another podium. We can’t complain. Good points in the championship, and we look forward to the race.”
His ability to stay calm under pressure and deliver solid results has become a hallmark of his season with Hitech TGR, where he continues to demonstrate the composure of a future title contender.
Targeting gains in the reverse grid race
Looking ahead to the reverse-grid race later in the day, Fairclough remained optimistic about his chances of making progress through the field. Citing the example of Rodin Motorsport’s Abbi Pulling, who climbed from the back to eighth in Race 1, he believes patience and strategy will be key to another strong result.
“Yeah, 100%. I mean, yesterday, Abbi was able to go from the back to P8, so it’s definitely a chance. We just have to bide our time and think smart. Keep my head screwed on.”
Fairclough’s measured confidence reflects his growing maturity behind the wheel — balancing ambition with the tactical awareness needed to thrive in a competitive grid.
Building momentum
As the GB3 Championship nears its conclusion, Fairclough’s string of podium finishes continues to underline his potential. Though frustrated to have missed out on challenging for the win, his ability to manage risk, maximise points, and maintain consistent pace marks him as one of the standout performers of the Donington weekend.
With a calm, calculated approach and clear focus on long-term results, Deagen Fairclough and Hitech TGR are well-positioned to finish the 2025 campaign on a high note.
