The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has officially completed its comprehensive review of the 2024 FIA F1 Financial Regulations.

The governing body’s Cost Cap Administration (CCA) found nine of the ten Formula 1 teams in full compliance with the cost cap for the 2024 reporting period.

This announcement marks a significant moment for the sport’s financial stability. These were first introduced in 2021. The FIA designed this limited overall spending rule to ensure long-term viability and a level playing field.

The FIA’s statements highlighted the rigorous nature of the audit. According to a statement from them, “The review of the Reporting Documentation was a very thorough and intensive process spanning seven months… The FIA confirms that all F1 Teams and all PU Manufacturers gave their full support… and acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and co-operation throughout the process.

This thorough seven-month review involved detailed analysis of financial documentation, development activities and accounting practices submitted by all teams.

A clean bill of health for most

For nine teams on the grid, the conclusion of the review is a straightforward confirmation of their compliance. There were rumours of a top team also breaching the cost cap. However, the CCA found only one team breaching the cost cap.

This outcome will be a relief to the paddock as it dismisses those widespread rumours. The FIA’s findings confirm these speculations were unfounded, and no team exceeded the spending limit set for the 2024 season.

The confirmation of compliance for the majority of the grid showcases a maturing understanding and implementation of the financial rules. This adherence is crucial for the credibility of the cost cap, which remains a cornerstone of the sport’s modern era.

Aston Martin’s minor procedural breach

The single exception noted in the FIA’s report was Aston Martin (AMR GP Ltd.). The team was found to be in a “Procedural Breach” of the 2024 regulations.

However, the FIA was explicit in clarifying the nature of this breach. The statement noted, “The CCA confirms that although AMR has been found to be in Procedural Breach, it has not exceeded the Cost Cap level, and that the Procedural Breach was of a very minor nature, originated by unpredictable circumstances outside the control of the F1 Team.

This confirms that Aston Martin did not overspend. Reports suggest the minor administrative issue was related to a delayed signature from an auditor due to circumstances beyond the team’s control.

To resolve the matter, Aston Martin and the FIA have entered into an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) on September 29, 2025. No sporting or further financial penalties were applied, given the minor nature of the infraction.

Power Unit manufacturers also compliant

In addition to the ten teams, the FIA’s review also covered the five Power Unit (PU) manufacturers registered for the 2026 technical cycle.

The report confirmed that all five manufacturers were also found to be in full compliance with the 2024 F1 Financial Regulations.

This clean sweep for the engine suppliers is another positive sign for the sport as it prepares for the new set of regulations in 2026. With the final results of the 2024 review now public, all teams and the FIA can move forward with certainty.
