Round 6 of the 2025/2026 Formula E is about to begin in Madrid, with all drivers ready on track to begin the race . Former championship leader Nick Cassidy starts from pole position, with Martì and Dennis out of the top ten. Guenther and Rowland both suffered from spins during Qualifying, and will consequently depart from the bottom top ten.

Drivers head out for the Formula E race in Madrid

Mortara moved up two spots, whereas Cassidy held on to the race lead. Da Costa had a positive start as well, moving up to P3, and Ticktum as well, battling with the Mahindra driver for a top 5 spot. The Brit manages to get by the Swiss, and tried to overtake Wehrlein too, but he was unsuccessful.

Maloney entered the pits on Lap 2 to serve his drive through penalty obtained for technical infringeement. De Vries loses his front wing following a strong collision from behind with Wehrlein. Ticktum moves up to P2, but Wehrlein is quick to resume his spot. It is a heated duel as the Cupra Kiro driver gets provisional silver again.

Drugovich is the first driver to take up Attack Mod from P18.

Top 10 five race laps in the Formula E Madrid round features: Cassidy, Wehrlein, Ticktum, Da Costa, Mortara, Guenther, Dennis, Rowland Vergne and Nato.

The French Citroen driver gets by Rowland for P8. The Nissan driver is awarded a drive through penalty for overpower at the start, with the crash between Wehrlein and De Vries investigated as well. Ultimately, the Dutch receives a 5 seconds time penalty.

Drugovich gets into P8, duelling with his teammate, and is able to proceed his quest to the front easily, getting P5 with 2 minutes left of power boost. Rowland serves his penalty, dropping at the back of the grid, as Martì takes up Attack Mode in his home race. The Brazilian driver slots into the race lead, dethroning Cassidy.

Attack Mode time

De Vries, in P13 after pitting for a new front wing, sets the fastest race lap. Barnard completed a bold move on Vergne, knocking the Frenchman into the gravel.

On Lap 10 Pepe Martì takes the race lead from Cassidy, who had returned in the lead. Drugovich, after the end of his power boost, has dropped to P6, as Di Grassi is the latest driver to pick up the Attack Mode. The Lola Yamaha driver gets into the top 10. Ticktum gets by Cassidy, for a Cupra Kiro 1-2.

Da Costa, Wehrlein and Guenther get into the pits to serve their Pit Boosts.

Top 10 on Lap 12: Martì, Ticktum, Cassidy, Mortara, Di Grassi, Drugovich, Dennis, Nato, Mueller and Barnard.

Wehrlein loses track position on his teammate after Pit Boost, as Buemi, Nato and Drugovich dive into the Pits as well. Buemi defends P16 from Drugovich, as Di Grassi takes the race lead, but the majority of the drivers opt for a stop.

Da Costa leads the pack of drivers who have already stopped from the Porsche duo, as Martì, Cassidy, Dennis, Muller and Eriksson are latest drivers to pit on Lap 15. The only drivers yet to pit are Evans and Rowland, as the Spaniard slots far back in P11. Evans pits as well, with Guenther and Muellr taking up their 6 minutes Attack Modes.

With the final seconds of his attack mode the DS Penske driver gets into the lead, developing a 0.36s lead over Da Costa. However, on the following lap, the Jaguar driver resumes P1.

Top 10 on Lap 17: Da Costa, Guenther, Wehrlein, Buemi, Ticktum, Mortara, Mueller, Evans, Di Grassi, Cassidy, rather upset with his energy consuming race strategy.

Post Pit Boost Shenanigans

Plenty of driver take up their additional power, hoping to plunge into the top 5: Buemi, up to P3, Mueeller, up to P4, Cassidy, moving into P7.

By Lap 18, the entire top 10 has extra power, with Buemi admitting he has used way too much energy, and is apparently set to end his race one lap earlier than the others.

Buemi gets right behind Da Costa for P2, as Wehrlein gets P3, trying to extend his championship lead. Cassidy ends in P4, but Ticktum and Mortara with additional power are on his tail. In fact, on Lap 20 the Brit gets P4.

Barnard is awarded a 5 seconds time penalty for his earlier accident. No laps will be addeed to the full race distrance, as Ticktum and Buemi duel for P3. It’s short lasted as the Brit gets by. Evans overtakes two cars for P4. The Cupra Kiro driver on fire completes a strong move on the outside on the championship leader for P2.

The final decisive laps of the Formula E race in Madrid

Evans is feisty as well, as he makes his way through the Porsche driver. The top 5 five are all rather close and in contention for the race win. Currently, P1 is held by latest race winner in Jeddah Da Costa. Not De Vries’s day as th Mahindra drover is awarded another 5 seconds penalty for Pit Boost infringement.

Evans gets by Ticktum and goes on to battle with his teammate for the race win. He is very insistent, but all his efforts are unsuccessful. Ultimately, Antonio Felix Da Costa takes his second Formula E race win in a row for Jaguar in Madrid ! Ticktum tried a bold pass on the Kiwi, but by doing so he stopped defending from his fellow Porsche-powered driver. Ultimately, Wehrlein snatches P3 from the Brit, with Mortara settling in P5. Buemi, Dennis, Mueller, home talent Martì in P9 and Eriksson complete the top 10.

The neext round will be a double header in Berlin in May.
