Formula E has announced that Fortescue Zero will remain the official PIT BOOST partner for the 2025/26 season, with the technology set to return this weekend at the Jeddah E-Prix.

PIT BOOST made its Formula E debut in the 2025/25 campaign, enhancing race strategy and elevating the sport’s spectacle. This season, in addition to Jeddah, the booster system will be available at all Season 12 double-header weekends, including Berlin, Monaco, Shanghai, Tokyo, and London.

PIT BOOST explained

The mandatory mid-race feature delivers a 10% energy increase to Formula E cars through a 30-second, 600kW rapid energy boost in the pit lane. The battery top-ups are supported by Fortescue Zero’s battery intelligence software, Elysia, which allows for the preservation of battery life and integrity.

The system also allows drivers to access one six-minute ATTACK MODE activation, leading to a more carefully planned race strategy and more action-packed racing for fans. However, notably, PIT BOOST is independent of ATTACK MODE, which remains part of the race, with its own rules.

Additionally, each team may run only one cat at a time through PIT BOOST, as the rules prohibit double-stacking or simultaneous stops.

Leaders eye a sustainable future

With the announcement, Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E, said: “The return of PIT BOOST this season reaffirms Formula E’s role as the ultimate real-world laboratory for high-speed innovation. By pushing this technology to its limits on the track, we aren’t just enhancing the race spectacle; we are proving the mission-critical solutions needed to decarbonise heavy industry and accelerate the global shift to electric mobility.”

While Douglas Campling, General Manager for Motorsport at Fortescue, added: “Fortescue Zero’s PIT BOOST ultra-fast technology is returning for a second season, to once again deliver a valuable strategic edge to the race series.”

Formula E’s collaboration with Fortescue Zero continues to support the mission to decarbonise heavy operations by 2030, demonstrating how innovation on the Formula E grid can translate into real-world transport and industrial solutions.
