Alpine have confirmed and signed a new long-term contract with Pierre Gasly that will keep him with the team until at least 2028. Gasly’s new deal locks down one of Alpine’s two seats for the foreseeable future. However, which driver will partner the Frenchman continues to remain uncertain.

Since joining the team in 2023, Gasly and Alpine have enjoyed considerable success together, highlighted by the two podiums finishes and his role in the team’s journey to sixth in the Constructors’ standings last season. The Frenchman’s contract wasn’t due to expire until the end of the year, but both parties opted to commit and lock in their futures together.

It’s been a tough 2025 campaign for Alpine, who currently sit at the bottom of the Teams’ standings with 20 points. With Gasly’s place now confirmed, focus shifts to the second seat, which remains the subject of intense speculation around the paddock. For now, at least, Alpine can feel at ease in securing stability on one side of the garage.

Statements from Alpine and Gasly

In the team’s official statement, Alpine detailed why both the team and Gasly felt it was the right time to secure their long-term future together: “The deal reaffirms Pierre’s commitment to Alpine and cements Alpine’s belief in Pierre as the driver to lead the team into the new regulation era in 2026 and beyond, under the leadership of Flavio Briatore and with the full backing of Renault Group led by the new CEO Francois Provost.”

In a joint statement, Gasly also shared his thoughts behind his decision to sign a long-term deal with the team. The Frenchman said: “I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, it makes me feel very proud.”

“Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future.”

“Flavio’s support and belief in me, Francois’ commitment to the Formula 1 project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision and I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and World Championships.

“We’re all in this together and I look forward to continuing this special story.”

Gasly “an immense asset” to the team says Briatore

Since his return to the Formula 1 paddock, Flavio Briatore has overseen several changes within the Enstone team’s lineup and staff, most notably the driver swap between Jack Doohan and Franco Colapinto earlier this year. In addition to Alpine’s statement, Briatore spoke warmly about Gasly and underlined his importance to the team.

Briatore said: “Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula One Team.”

“We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula 1, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future.”

“Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.”
