Free Practice got underway at the Nürburgring, marking the start of the penultimate round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
Fastest Lap after less than 10 minutes
Tim Heinemann set the fastest lap of the Free Practice session at the Nürburgring. With a 1m55.249s, the German set the time to beat, after less than 10 minutes into the session. The Herberth Motorsport Driver could not be beaten during the two-hour-long Free Practice, giving the team an early confidence boost for the weekend. With only 0.048s behind the fastest time, Jens Klingmann put the #777 AlManar Racing by WRT BMW in second. Shortly followed by Maxime Martin in third with 0.092s behind the leading car, making the top 2 competitors of the Gold Cup class.
Late Full-Course yellow to conclude the session
HRT Ford Performance showed an excellent start at Free Practice of the GTWC Endurance Round at the Nürburgring. While David Schumacher put the Ford into fourth overall and first in the Silver Cup standings, Arjun Maini drove the sister car onto P5 overall. Leaving only 0.016 seconds between the two sister cars. Not far behind the Ford, the Paradine Competition #991 BMW claimed P6 overall. As well as the lead in the Bronze Cup classification. Sai Sanjay hit the barriers in the #112 CSA Racing McLaren. This led to a full-course yellow and an early end to Free Practice of the GTWC Endurance Round at the Nürburgring.
Line-up changes due to medical issues
The Ziggo Sport Tempesta squad has made a late adjustment to its line-up after Chris Froggatt was sidelined by a medical issue. Stepping into the #93 Ferrari is Lorenzo Patrese, who previously featured as the team’s fourth driver at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. His return provides valuable continuity for the crew as they adapt to the unexpected change.
