Porsche confirmed that Ayhancan Güven and Elia Weiss will take part in the Madrid Rookie Test on Sunday 22 March. The session is scheduled to take place the day after the CUPRA Raval Madrid E-Prix and will give young drivers valuable track time in Formula E machinery. Güven and Weiss are both familiar faces within the Porsche family and return to the team for the upcoming test. The outing will offer both drivers the opportunity to gain further experience in the all-electric series while Porsche evaluates emerging talent.

Güven brings prior Formula E experience into Madrid Rookie Test

Reigning DTM champion Güven will take on his third outing behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo during the Madrid Rookie Test. The 28-year-old Turkish driver already gained experience with the Formula E machinery earlier in the season when he participated in the Rookie Free Practice session in Miami. He also took part in last July’s Berlin Rookie Test, where he impressed against a highly competitive field. Güven delivered a strong performance throughout the session and ultimately set the second fastest time of the day. His previous experience with the car will allow him to return to the Porsche garage with valuable knowledge as he prepares for another opportunity in the all-electric series.

Weiss continues early Formula E journey with Porsche joining Güven in Madrid

Sixteen-year-old Weiss will join Güven to complete Porsche’s line-up for the Madrid Rookie Test. The German youngster already holds a notable milestone in the championship, having become the youngest driver ever to test a Formula E car. He reached that mark last year in Berlin, only three weeks after turning 16. Since then, Weiss has continued to build experience in single-seater racing and recently concluded his first campaign in the UAE4 Series, the successor to the former F4 Middle East Championship. The Madrid session will therefore mark another step in his early development as he returns to Porsche’s Formula E programme.
