The two sun-soaked test days at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya not only delivered competitive lap times but also marked the welcome return of several popular figures to the 2026 International GT Open paddock.
Among them, Marcelo Hahn’s comeback stood out, as the experienced Brazilian prepares for a fresh chapter in his GT career.
Marcelo Hahn begins new Ferrari chapter with top time on Day 2 of 2026 International GT Open testing in Barcelona
After a brief hiatus, Marcelo Hahn returns to the series where he has enjoyed significant success. Since debuting in 2017, Hahn has secured the Pro-Am title in 2020 along with 10 class wins and one overall victory.
This season, however, he embarks on a new challenge. Hahn will compete in the Am class aboard a Ferrari 296 run by AF Corse, featuring the iconic Blau livery. Notably, this campaign sees him paired with new teammates rather than long-time partner Allam Khodair.
During testing, Diego Nunes and Galid Osman shared driving duties, with Osman expected to complete the race line-up.
Reflecting on his return, Hahn said: “I am really happy to be back to the International GT Open, probably the series I enjoy the most, despite the travel constraints it entails for me. And the Ferrari feels just great…”
Goodspeed embraces new era with Aston Martin while Hernández encouraged by winter development
Equally enthusiastic about their return were the drivers from Goodspeed, who arrive with renewed ambition and upgraded machinery.
The Polish squad fields an Aston Martin Vantage, piloted by Piotr Wira and Tomasz Magdziarz. Both drivers expressed excitement about the season ahead and the team’s refreshed setup.
Wira commented: “I am very happy to be back. Together with my friend Tomasz, a revamped team and a new car such as the Aston, very responsive and very challenging. I can now devote myself entirely to racing and I will be enjoting the season tremendously.”
Meanwhile, Alfredo Hernández returns after a short break, but within a significantly restructured Grupo Prom team. The Mexican driver focused on maximising track time during testing while evaluating improvements made over the winter, particularly with tyre performance.
He explained: “It’s helpful to have this opportunity to do mileage. And we have improved the car a lot over the winter. I am very happy with the new Michelin tyres, which are a little bit harder, but have excellent behaviour and longer durability.”
Porsche dominance shapes results on Day of 2026 International GT Open testing in Barcelona
On track, Porsche machinery proved to be the benchmark across both days. The Fach-Schwager entry from Fach Auto Tech set the fastest time of the test with a 1:39.645 lap.
They finished ahead of Fontana Armanni from ZRS Motorsport, who trailed by just 0.172 seconds. Impressively, Hahn, Nunes and Osman secured third overall in the AF Corse Ferrari, 0.417 seconds off the pace.
Notably, this top three order remained unchanged across the combined classification of both testing days, underlining consistent performance from the leading contenders.
Classification
- Fach-Schwager (Fach Auto Tech) – 1:39.645
- Fontana Armanni (ZRS Motorsport) – +0.172
- Hahn / Nunes / Osman (AF Corse Ferrari 296) – +0.417
Overall, the Barcelona test offered a compelling mix of returning talent, refreshed teams and competitive parity. As a result, anticipation continues to build for the upcoming season.
With experienced names back on the grid and new combinations already showing promise, the International GT Open looks set for another fiercely contested campaign.
