Heading into the F1 Azerbaijan GP, Lewis Hamilton is currently sitting 6th in the Drivers’ Championship behind his Scuderia teammate Charles Leclerc. As he continues to push forward, Hamilton focuses on progressing the performance of the car.
Hamilton ready to hit reset and start fresh ahead of F1 Azerbaijan GP
Hamilton is taking his tough season with Ferrari in stride and using it as a baseline for improvements next year. He continues to be hopeful that the struggles this year will help him have much better results in 2026, providing he has the car to do it.
“I don’t personally feel like these last races really have much bearing on next year. Of course, that’s the goal is to see progress and continue to work.
“But the more I experience with the team, the more I grow with the team and that experience always will pay dividends moving forward with the things that we’re learning.
“Whatever lessons that we’re faced with will definitely help for the future, I’m sure.”
Hamilton keeps it short
The seven-time World Champion has not won a championship in almost 5 years. It has been noticeable that he has struggled with the ground effect era cars. 2 wins and 1 pole position across the Grand Prix format is a big drop from his record across 2007-2021.
Ahead of the F1 Azerbaijan GP, Hamilton remained tight lipped when asked if he is looking forward to the return of his generation of cars, responding with a simple, “Yes.”
Head down, Hamilton is trying to stay hopeful
Having achieved no Grand Prix podiums this year to date, Hamilton is hanging close to the facts when asked about the rest of the season. Giving credit where it’s due, he says McLaren are too fast everywhere for Ferrari, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull also in another league at Monza.
“I don’t think there’s any track that we’ll be able to beat the McLarens or the Red Bulls. They’re ahead in Monaco, they’re ahead in every track, so I don’t anticipate any of those, any changing in those races.
“But of course, if we are surprised and we manage to max the performance of the car, which is ultimately getting the car low, then maybe we’ll be a little bit closer.”
Looking for the silver lining, Lewis Hamilton would love to be surprised by a win or a big result this weekend at the F1 Azerbaijan GP. He tries to keep the Tifosi hopeful that he is working on extracting the maximum performance of the car.
