As reported by Sportscar365, JMR Johor Racing will return to the Indianapolis 8 Hour in 2026, fielding a two-car effort at the season finale of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Malaysian squad will campaign a pair of Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries, including a Pro class car strengthened by GM factory drivers. Through this programme, JMR renews its focus on SRO Motorsports Group’s global GT3 platform and signals a broader international ambition.
Corvette programme anchors global strategy as JMR Johor Racing commits to IGTC Indianapolis 8 Hour return
As the team prepares for the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, it has repositioned its international strategy around the Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar. The Indianapolis 8 Hour stands as a cornerstone of that renewed campaign.
With the Corvette Z06 GT3.R platform now firmly embedded in its operations, JMR will approach the Brickyard with expanded ambitions and factory backing. The Pro entry at Bathurst, featuring Earl Bamber, Alexander Sims and Nicky Catsburg, underlines the calibre of driver talent the team intends to deploy across IGTC rounds.
This appearance will mark JMR’s second visit to Indianapolis. The team previously competed at the venue in 2024 under the Mercedes-AMG banner. However, its transition to Corvette machinery, combined with a deeper and more structured international programme, highlights a decisive shift in direction.
Moreover, the team will relocate its operational base to Europe for the 2026 season. It will centralise cars and equipment in the Netherlands to streamline logistics and enhance testing efficiency ahead of marquee events such as the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
In the long term, JMR intends to maintain four race-ready Corvette Z06 GT3.R chassis. This strategy will provide flexibility and resilience across an increasingly demanding global calendar.
Two-car push for IGTC finale
Although JMR has yet to confirm whether it will field one or two entries for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa—partly due to a scheduling conflict affecting driver availability—it has already committed to a two-car effort for the final two IGTC rounds at Suzuka and Indianapolis. The team plans to enter one car in the Pro class and one in Pro-Am at both events, reinforcing its competitive presence at the sharp end of the championship.
The Indianapolis 8 Hour continues to rank among North America’s premier international GT events. Each year, it attracts leading teams and manufacturers to one of the most historic venues in world motorsport.
Furthermore, the IGTC field will once again merge with the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS grid, which has experienced a significant surge in entries for 2026. Consequently, the autumn finale promises to deliver one of the largest and most competitive editions of the race to date.
As JMR Johor Racing sharpens its Corvette programme and strengthens its global structure, its return to Indianapolis signals both intent and ambition on the world GT3 stage.
