Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was happy with the results of the new upgrade package that came to the AMR25 for the recent F1 triple-header.

Stroll has had a mixed bag of results during the start of the 2025 Formula 1 Season. Scoring points in the first two races and seemingly struggling since then.

Aston Martin’s upgrade package

Stroll remained positive about the upgrades that Aston Martin brought to the triple header which started with the F1 Imola GP.

When asked about how much of a difference the upgrades have made to the feel of the car, Stroll was assured in his response, stating that their results show an improvement, but there is still more work to be done.

“Kind of the same but a bit quicker, so we’re still focused on improving the balance.

“This upgrade has just kind of put some load in the car, but we still have a lot of the same limitations, so definitely it’s made the car quicker, and, you know, thats good.”

“We’ve seen it over the last couple of weeks, you know, just with the results.”

The upgrades are not track specific

Due to the circuits at Imola and Monaco being very different, Aston Martin’s race results have shown the team that these upgrades are not specific to a certain type of circuit.

In response to a question about whether this gives him confidence that the upgrades do not seem to be track specific, Stroll explained that the team will know more over time.

“Yeah, I mean, time will tell.

“It’s still a long season ahead. So, I don’t think we are where we want to be yet. We are not in a comforatble points scoring position every week.

“We definitely made a step forward, which is good.”

Past upgrade struggles and looking forward to 2026

The Canadian driver was asked whether the team delivering performance to the car is positive learning going into 2026.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s always good when upgrades make the car faster.

“Where we want to be? No. But you’ve just got to keep pushing, and, you know, bringining performance to the car. A lot has been learned over the last year.”

In the 2024 Formula One season, Aston Martin stuggled to get on top of the upgrades that they brought to the car. It was a similar story after that superb start to 2023.

Stroll reflected on this, reiterating how it is a good step forward for the car and team.

“We were disappointed with a lot of our upgrades last year, that’s no secret. This one is actually, you know, a positive step forward to the car.”

The main concerns Stroll would like improved

While these upgrades have had an impact on the speed of the AMR25, there are still areas for improvement.

Speaking on the main developments he would like to see on the car to give him a confidence boost. Lance Stroll had a list of improvements in terms of handling.

“Just the usual stuff, you know, entry, stability, mid-corner understeer.

“Just sort of through-corner balance, never enough downforce.”

Lance Stroll’s home race at the Canadian Grand Prix and is due to be the first race back following his break after missing the Spanish GP. It will be interesting to see whether these upgrades will continue to show an improvement to the car.
