Ahead of his rookie Formula 2 campaign, Noel León opened up about his preparations for the 2026 season with Campos Racing. After two seasons in Formula 3, the Mexican driver is set to take the next step up, following a challenging 2025 season that saw him finish 17th in the Drivers’ Standings with 36 points.
For the 2026 season, Campos Racing has chosen to field an all-rookie lineup, with León set to partner 2025 F3 Vice-Champion Nikola Tsolov. However, as he gears up for his debut, the Mexican shared how he’s adapting to a new team and environment, steadily preparing for himself for his first full-season.
“I’m super excited to be joining Campos. I want to thank all of the team, every team member and Adrian Campos Jr for the opportunity and putting their confidence in me for the seat and to fight for the title next year.”
“I’m super happy. It’s a team that have made me feel at home already. It’s like a family, so I’m really happy to be with these people for a really important year for myself. Campos has been very, very competitive in the last few years and I’m really looking forward to starting work with them and learning as much as I possibly can ahead of next year.”
Preparation for the 2026 season have started
With the Formula 3 season concluding in September, León’s focus quickly shifted to 2026. He expressed relief at securing a seat early, noting that it allows him and the team to fully focus on preparation and development for next year.
“It’s good to be confirmed as early as possible, especially because it’s such a great environment. All of the team have the same goals as you and I’m really happy the announcement came early.”
“Now we don’t need to be thinking about that and putting energy into it, it’s just about getting our heads down and doing as much work as we can to prepare for next season.”
In just a few weeks, León shared that he’ll join the team in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. As preparations are well underway at Campos, the Mexican driver explained how he has spent time in the factory and in the simulator ahead of post-season testing in Abu Dhabi.
“I’ll be in Qatar and Abu Dhabi with the team, learning as much as I can. It’s always good to be learning from others and listening in, looking on and I’m excited to see how it goes.”
“I’m really looking forward to testing in Abu Dhabi at the end of the year. I’m already in the factory with them, learning all the procedures, studying what you need to do with an F2 car and getting used to setups in the simulator, things like that.”
León: Monza podium was the best way to end 2025 season
The Mexican driver expressed his gratitude towards Campos for the warm welcome. Looking back on his 2025 season, undeniably, León and PREMA Racing endured a challenging season. But for the 20 year-old, ending the year on a high with a podium in Monza was a perfect way to close out the campaign.
“I’m also doing my preparation on the side but from the very first day, they’ve made me feel at home and I’m very grateful for the opportunity and warm welcome.”
“It was important to finish as strong as possible. To finish with a podium helps me a lot, helps me to finish one chapter and move onto the next page of the chapter. After the season we had, it was the best way to finish and now it’s focus onto the next one.”
Settling into new machinery and learning new tracks won’t be easy. However, looking ahead, León is excited to go racing in Jeddah for the first time.
“For next year, I’m really looking forward to Jeddah. I think it’s a great track and it’s going to be one of the first times I’ll get to race at night. So I’m really looking forward to that one in particular.”
